“Invite an enlightened friend.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 31, 2014

The best part of this dinner was the food that we would never have tasted, had not a local, knowledgeable friend joined us and placed the order. The service was quick and careful. There was no attempt to rush the group, even though the restaurant was full.

“Authentic and Fresh”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 16, 2014

Had dim sum here - very fresh and tasty. Bit pricey though.....each plate of dim sum was about C$5/-. Our measure of authenticity included 'Har gao', 'Siew mai', 'Sin jook kuen', 'Cha siew bao' and 'fun cheong'......the prawns were really fresh in the 'har gao' and 'fun cheong'. Texture of the 'fun cheong' was ok. The 'siew mai' was great. 'Sin jook kuen' was a bit different, with fish past and dried scallops vs. pork and shrimps, .....loved the skin though. 'Cha siew bao' was very good, tasty, sweet and savory. Also tried their 'fun guo' - Chew jhow dumpling - which was pretty good as well. Would definitely come back to try their other menu items.

“Worst dim sum ever”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 22, 2014

This is by far the worst meal I have had. Honestly, it's astonishing to see that it's crowded with mostly Chinese clientele. The food is rubbish, made with the lowest quality ingredients. And I'm not impressed just because there's some fish roe or dried scallops sprinkled on top of the siew mai - it does not justify the pricey dim sum which tastes worse than the frozen stuff you can buy from your local Asian supermarket. Terrible food, if you can even call it that.

“Authentic Chinese as good or better than Hong Kong”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 3, 2014

Great food. Dishes are authentic Chinese, delicious to the palate and eye, very rewarding if you're willing to try new items.
This restaurant and its Chinese imported chefs regularly win culinary prizes . Menu is in Chinese with pictures of all the dishes, if you don't speak the language point at the pictures. For weekend dining its best to call for reservations. Dim Sum starts just before noon, get there early so you can try all the dishes before they run out. Dim sum plates range from $3 to $6. We like to over indulge and take home any little extras for a treat later in the afternoon.
Centrally located next to Hudson's Bay department store in Lansdowne Mall. Park in the mall parkade or the restaurant parking lot, Kirin will pay for your parking.
The restaurant is located 2 floors up from the main entrance.

“Very Asian Seafood”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 7, 2014

Very authentic Asian seafood. My friend had the butter-cream lobster and it was absolutely saturated with the cream sauce. I Probably a little too authentic for us!
