Empire Seafood Restaurant is a wonderful Cantonese style restaurant in the Golden Village area of Richmond. It is located near Landsdowne station. There dim sum is amazing and they have a huge variety, a must try is their Wu Gok!

Park just below the shopping center; it's free.
This place just jumped to number two or three on our dimsum establishment list (and it's already a pretty long list) for British Columbia.
We were driving down Number 3 Road, the main drag in Richmond, and anxious to try something new. I suggested my friend in the back-seat look-up the "top 10 dimsums" in Richmond and see what turned up, "and don't worry about finding it, there are only two main roads in Richmond -- ". I don't know what list she was consulting, but "Empire" jumped out, and we passed it almost immediately on our right.
After finding parking, we joined about 30 people waiting to get in for lunch. After being seated, as we got down to business: the shrimp dumplings (ha gao) and short ribs (pai gwat) were fine. The turnip cakes were served in cubes, and not as oily as one usually finds -- thanks for that. Gailam (Chinese broccoli): bouncy and good. A cold dish, chicken and truffles, was tasty and different. Not even one dish was disappointing. Fish collar was also very tasty.
We're coming back here to try the dinner menu and see how they do with that.
Even my wife (from Hong Kong), who usually finds many things "wrong", was pleased.
Good work Empire crew!
Bon appetit and happy Thanksgiving for any U.S.-side readers.

We make a reservation for 9am Dim Sum. The reservation online was very easy and convenient. There is a small discount for 9-11am booking.
The place is easy to find, with free parking at London Plaza. The ambient is bright and spacious. The service was below average, they missed out a lot of our orders and when we noticed and asked for it we had to wait quite a while. Perhaps it was a busy day... The selection was quite a lot but most were not available till after 10am, unfortunately we were rushing for a morning ferry from Tsawwassen so wasn’t able to order those dishes that will only become available after 10am. Among those that we ordered the preserved egg porridge was very good, so was the egg yolk bun. The rest of them were just average: prawn dumpling, scallops dumpling, sui mai etc. The xiao long pao was way below average so don’t order that as it is a northern chinese dish and this is a hong kong/ cantonese restaurant.

By vancouver standard I would rate this as average.

I've had dim sum all over the world. Empire is my favorite. The quality, variety, uniqueness, are all unbeatable. We make it a regular point to dine everytime we are in B.C. Lucky for us, our daughter attends UBC!

I took my family of 6 here for dim sum at 10:30 am. We ordered 11 or 12 dishes and we loved the following the best; baked bbq pork buns, the Chinese donut with shredded pork and the rice rolls and the sticky rice.
The service was very good as was our meal! The prices are reasonable and if you order before 11 you get 20 percent off. The bill was less than $15.00 CAD per person including 20 percent tip. I think it was very value for money and the food is very good!
I would definitely recommend this restaurant for dim sum!
