“Enough Chinese food, Gelico's is the best alternative in Richmond Chinatown”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 7, 2014

i spent my March Break in visiting my parent in Richmond downtown. Chinese food abound, after 5 days of having it, we needed something different other than pizza and fish and chips in Steveston Wharf which is another good alternative to Asian food stuff. In desperation for some normal food, we recollected that Felico's left us with a very good impression 2 years ago; therefore, we wanted to give it a try again, we were not disappointed.

We like Greed food, and we lived near the Greek Town in Toronto, the second largest outside Athens other than Sydney, Australia. My wife was brought up in the Greek town so we can boast that we have developed an appreciative taste bud for the Greek cuisine.

Felico's is above the North American standard Greek restaurants that usually offer souvlaki with fries or Gyro. Felico's menu includes some high end lamb dishes, whilst the more standard dishes such as mousaka comes with grilled vegetables and flavoured rice. The dish is not overpowered by garlic and the relatively mild Tzatziki sauce (garlic yogurt sauce) has actually some cucumber piece in a softer yogurt mix. I loved it. The food is definitely very refined Greek cuisine. We also had the saganaki (flaming cheese) but without the waitor yelling out Opa as the restaurant owner does not really want to stereotype its ethnicity but to promote the more sophisticated side of Greek cuisine, to this, i believe he has done it very successfully. We have also sample the lamb souvlaki, and it is just perfectly done. My mom had the rack of lamb, but we must remind you that their medium rare is actually medium to well done, so beware of this when you order it. On the whole, we have had the same good quality of food and received the same homely but welcoming service in this March visit comparing to our last visit two years ago, which is testimonial to that Felico's food and services are consistent.

Most importantly, it is a decent family restaurant without the boisterous Asian restaurant atmosphere in the centre of Richmond Chinatown. Enough Chinese food in Richmond, i strongly recommend that you give the Greek food at Felico's a try.

“Good, but not great”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 31, 2013

We usually end up coming back to this restaurant every two years or so and everytime I think that we have had better food elsewhere. Felico's was rated quite high non the list on Trip Advisor so we tried again. Perhaps it was just what we ordered: the Seafood platter for two.. it came with a nice greek salad... but the shrimp appetizer (cold shrimp and sauce) was sad. a few lonely shrimp lay wet on a bed of ice with sauce that was okay. Then came the main course.. for platters it was not overabundent, which is the usual at greek restaurants. The rice was plain, one half of small roasted potatoe and the veggies (which were the best part). Our seafood for maincourse was a small dish to be divided in two which had two shrimp/two "small" pieces of white fish, two "small" pieces of salmon and only two scallops. There was a side of calamari which was nothing special. The service was good except for when I asked to try a taste of a certain type of wine (sold by glass) they were not keen, but did accomodate me. There are alot better choices in Richmond.

The Good: The menu is quite extensive, the atmosphere is pleasant and staff cheerful and mostly helpful.

“Friendly place”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 10, 2013

Great friendly place with good quality food at good prices. It can be a little noisy and crowded on a weekend but well worth a visit. Best lamb in Vancouver.

“Great Greek food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 26, 2013

I always order the combo platter because I love variety. Spanakopita, Keftedes (meat balls), Kalamary, etc... All great tasting . And a side of giant baked beans that are to die for.

“Everything About It!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 14, 2013

This place was excellent from the moment we walked in until we left. The décor and ambience was impressive to see, especially in a greek restaurant. Our server was very friendly and helpful. They suggested for our group of 3 people, a platter and the keltico (roast lamb). There was so much delicious food here it was great. The lamb fell right off the bone and melted in your mouth. We shared a cheesecake and a tiramisu for dessert, also excellent. I would recommend this place to anyone. Everything about it was great!!!
