Had a bit of a two headed experience here! We booked in for one night for the end of a two week trip to Canada, and had one of the executive rooms. That was fantastic - very comfy bed, nice bath/shower etc. Ate at the more upmarket restaurent, which, whilst pricey, was a lovely meal, and the staff were all friendly and efficient.
However, having walked through the casino side on the way in, it all felt a little depressing. Having never been to any sort of casino before, I wasn't quite sure what to expect - and seeing lots of miserable looking gamblers was a bit off-putting. Also, you are VERY observed whilst at the hotel - cameras everywhere.
The other down side was the fact that there is renovation work going on at the moment, which means there are some areas and views which will be much improved when the works are completed.
Finally, what's the score with breakfast in this place - we couldn't find a decent place to have our breakfast meal before our flight - the only place open was the fast food type place in the casino area - not very nice to have to eat there when there are the 'hard core' gamblers feeding the machines adjacent to the dining area!

Drove in. Let Valet do the car - free parking at 3 storey parkade is a mid-walk back to hotel, albeit more close the the extensive Casino. Also, Valet is better security and all other take in baggage and services, do add up. Check-in on 2nd floor, very efficient. Enjoyed a pkge deal that was much-more than anticipated. Offerings change and without one, it is worth every nickle. Room was a suite (all suites); the bedroom and bed most fanglorious & large, my girlfriend and I were able to sleep with our nightly aerobics w/flashing arms w/o hitting one another. TV in this room too. Comfy robes provided, lighted closets. Water provided. Goblets. Glasses. Coffee/tea mugs and maker and in room fridge to use (not stocked) & a "safe".

So well appointed, nice tall seating (I'm disabled hip down) yet can walk a flat surface, chairs are high enough -my booster pillow not needed - but even regular folk prefer the higher seating. On request they provided the best raised toilet top w/hand bars for me to use and even offered a fully disabled room. We stayed with this one, on a view of the river. Very nice. No convenience was missed. All amenities in lush bathroom w/soaker tub & huge rain-shower. Electronic Keys Secure. Splendid decor & furnishing - well appointed in art, paint shade, carpet pattern and comfy to walk with detail in tiles to drapery. The only fault is although good air-flow, a window would not open, would be nice to have a 2" nature hole. However River Rock is better than some we stayed at Whistler (for the price maybe similar in outlay) -for the price RR is the deal of the century. Free newspaper in the doorway.

Runway 26 The Buffet is the best for value and price and offerings in the lower mainland. We go just for the buffet throughout the year. Entertainment is name and ticketmaster. LuLu's is a lounge in the Casino to dance and sit and enjoy or listen to within the confines of the near Slots. The other restaurant is higher class, view on pier and white linens yet better prices than a food fair at the airport and food Very Good and Breakfasts to bar-none terrific. Don't let the outside and inside of this book deter you, the prices are average anywhere, just you'll feel like you're in as a VIP. Internet and TV as internet $12 for 24 hrs. w/keyboard on coffee table (if you didn't bring your own); also business centres for free internet at public sites.

Sound proof is excellent as planes depart and land at YVR over just beside. Not a bother in the hotel or room. You won't hear your neighbours or plumbing either.

Recommended for us that live here and for those that want quality without spending a bundle. The YVR skytrain opens in Sept '09 and will wisk one to DT Vancouver or vis vis, so one will not have to pay the Vancouver price. It's a heck of a feeling to say so many wonderful things about such an accommodating hotel. Even the staff refused a tip. We'd have to press them to accept, yet walk with us to the elevator, take the luggage, get ice, 24hr services; action; sleep and calm - make it what you want. A resort it is. Relax or Party. River Rock, Rocks. Free parking too, if you're up to a small walk from the 3 storey parkade which we use when just doing the "casino".

Was fun to be a tourist in my own town and highly recommended to all.

No shuttle which would have been nice. Nice room with seperate bedroom for parents and pull out sofa for kids. Room service limited for kids and pricey. Casino runs hotel in the sense you have to walk right by it to check in. Once renovations done, should be much better. Easy check in, clean room. Ate at fine dining restaurant as adults - great food and location. Easy to call cab in morning to airport. Once skytrain done - will be a stop so really simple for air travel connections.

Chose this hotel/casino as a fun family getaway for the night before my flight home.

Beautiful large one bedroom suite with lovely view of river and marina!

Very comfortable for 3 adults, 1 child.

Excellent food and kid friendly, even in the main dining room (other restaurant closed for renovation).

Spacious indoor pool.

Friendly staff throughout the facilities.

Highly recommend this property!!

Very nice place to stay. (Were there between x-mas and New Year) We're not usally staying at 4 star hotels, so our expectations may by a bit less than high end hotel users.

We booked an Executive Suite on the 8th floor ($129 CAD), which included a one choice (2 egg) breakfast ($ 10.00 p.p. value). Lots of nice little extras, such as turn-down service, robes, slippers and big screen TV in living area. Bed was the best we ever slept on.

We don't play the casino, but enjoyed the pool and hot tub.
Construction is going on. The lobby doesn't look like the website photos at all, since most of it is now closed off. Just a (relatively) small front lobby left. To go to different parts of the hotel facilities you need to pass trhough all kinds of narrow corridors. Even the check-in desk on the 3rd floor is out of the way. Two of the dining facilities (Dock Side Cafe and Java Jacks) were closed because of construction. The Food Court and Lulu Lounge are in the Casino, and thus not accessible for families with minors. We saw one family sitting in the lobby at a temporary table eating with their kids. The only other dining facilities away from the the Casino were Tramonto (fine) and Runway 26 (buffet) both on the 2nd floor.

There are plenty of (visible) staff and we found all readily available and friendly. Overall, we had a great time and believe we got excellent value for the money.

Our pre cruise stay at the River Rock Casino Resort was amazing.
The rooms were absolutely the best. Decorated beautifully, very comfortable with the best ammenities. The suite style was perfect . This made our stay in Vancouver a delight.

There was construction going on inside as well as outside but did not affect us in any way. The staff was very helpful. Beautiful grounds & gorgeous view. Fitness room had the newest equipment. Pool was exceptional.

The only problems we encountered were finding the resort ,not knowing our way around Richmond & losing at the casino.

Hotels.com gave us a great deal. It couldn't be beat.
Made for an incredible stay in Vancouver.

We booked our wedding night at the River Rock Casino Resort. Before our stay I triple checked our room rate & reservation just to be on the safe side & was quoted $370.00. I wanted to make sure of this as we did have expenses from the wedding & I wanted to make sure we had enough room on our Visa.

We got to the front desk to check in & was informed that our credit card was declined. Declined? I had checked moments before leaving for the hotel that we had the amount we required available. It turned out that not only do they 'hold' the amount for the room, they add an additional $100 for incidentals. Something we had never encountered at any other hotel we had stayed with - and we have stayed at many, many hotels.

In order to appease this $100 incidental cahrge I offered up the $100 in cash. That wasn't good enough for them. If we wanted to offer up cash to them for the incidental it would suddenly be bumped to $500!!! That money was for us to use for our enjoyment at the casino & to pay for our meals.

After much complaining on our part - as we had not been told of this $100 incidental carge on any of our confirmation e-mails, nor on the phone - they 'graciously' lowered the cash requirement to $200 & we were permitted to check in.

Our room was lovely. The hotel supplied us with a bottle of sparking wine to congratulate us on our wedding. We had a deep soaker tub, a large plasma screen TV & a gorgeous bed that gave me one of the best sleeps in my life.

We played at the casino & won a bit of $$ which made us happy. We enjoyed a meal at the buffet & were pleased by it.

The rooms were well sound proofed - when we were outside of the hotel we were deafened by the planes overhead arriving at the local airport - we couldn't hear a peep of them from our room.

The next morning we received a slip under our door stating that we had deposited $200 in cash to our bill & would owe an additional $--- on departure. Considering that they had been holding the $200 for us in case of any incidental charges & had already charged our Visa for our hotel room we found this to be out of line.

When we were checking out I had to remind the girl that the charge was on our Visa & that we expected our $200 in cash back ASAP.

All in all we had a good time but it wasn't due to the staff or the hotel policies. We found the check in staff to be rude & argumentative on an issue that was not our responsibility.
