We came here for lunch on a Tuesday afternoon after running some errands in the area. The restaurant was not very busy around 1:30 as there were about a dozen or so customers.

My spouse and I shared the black bean sauce beef rice noodles ($11), the bean curd with assorted meat hot pot ($14.95) and a small bowl of rice ($2). Our order came with a free drink. We chose the lemon tea that was slightly on the sweet side but still good.

The black bean sauce beef rice noodle dish was tasty and comparable to other restaurants. Large slices of beef and lots of onions and green peppers. An above average dish that I would rate 3.5 out of 5.

As for the hot pot, we were a bit surprised by the size of the dish and the amount of ingredients in the dish including bean curd, bbq pork, chicken, shrimp, scallops, squid, napa cabbage and mushrooms. This was a good dish that I would rate at 4 out of 5.

The total bill before the tip was $29.35.

Ratings Breakdown
• Quality and taste – good. 3.75 out of 5 rating.
• Quantity vis-à-vis price – good value. 3.5 out of 5 rating.
• Service – the food came in a timely manner. We had to ask for tea refills. 3 out of 5 rating.

We were here last in November 2016 for dinner and I gave the restaurant experience an “average” rating. For lunch, this time, I would rate the food at 3.75 out of 5 trending towards a “good” rating.

Had the four dish special combination menu which comes with soup, rice, a free choice of crab, hainanese chicken, or for a little bit extra, lobster. Ordered hot pot halibut & tofu, hot pot eggplant, cashew & prawns and sweet and sour pork. All were made fresh and the quality of ingredients used is evident. For instance, the sweet and sour pork & halibut were deep fried prior to being sauteed/simmered which made for an excellent taste/texture. Finally, maybe it was not as busy, but the service was good, although parking may be difficult to find. Recommend.

Our family came here to celebrate a birthday. One family member had been here before and choose to dine here again because you got a free lobster with noodles dish if you order six other dishes.it’s a rare treat as fewer restaurants offer free crab or lobster with your meal considering the sky high price of crab and lobster.

We ordered the seafood hot pot, green beans in black bean sauce, deep fried calamari with green chillies, honey pork spareribs, steamed gai lan, broccoli with steamed fish, rice vermicelli hot pot. The most popular dishes were the calamari, honey spareribs and green beans. Gai lan were slightly over cooked and ok. The least favourable were the 2 hot pots - bland and blah.

The restaurant is located in a strip mall right off of Cambie Street and No. 5 Road. Parking is a challenge during peak hours. The place was packed of locals.

They only accept cash or debit. Service could improve. They sure didn’t waste time in wanting us to leave as they hovered over us asking if they could take plates/dishes away.

The meal came with a complimentary soup which was a watery melon soup, rice and for dessert, white tapioca soup.

The turn off was seeing a fly flying around and having a sheet of plastic onto a wooden round table. It isn’t for you if you’re seeking some ambience and nicer decor.

I can’t say I would drive from the other side of town to dine here. Maybe if I spent a day shopping at IKEA. I doubt I’ll be back as there are sooo many other Asian restaurants to try.

We had an awesome meal here - we opted for the 4 dishes with the 'complimentary' crab (upgraded to lobster) which actually isn't truly complimentary as you do pay slightly more for your 4 dish meal, but it does also include rice & soup & the portions are generous. Keep in mind though that you're in a local Chinese restaurant - being surrounded entirely by Chinese people will be a giveaway - so the soup was chicken's foot!! The rest of the meal was incredible & very Caucasian friendly, but still completely authentic. Service was prompt. The ambiance isn't anything special - you'll be here for the food, not the setting. Our meal was a very successful & delicious cultural adventure that we'll definitely repeat when we're in the area : )

I go there with friends almost every Saturday for lunch. Everything is ok. Taste is good, price is ok, service is ok, parking is ok, seating is ok, cleaness is ok, washroom is below average. It is one of the convenience Hong Kong style restaurant on No. 5 Rd.
