“very disappointed”

If you want to freeze and see no Whales then perfect tour, gave a voucher so you can go back anytime and never ends, BUT we are only here for a very short stay and don't think we will be back, waste of money.

I have been operating this company for 14 years and it still never ceases to amaze me that people think it is the fault of my company when they do not see whales and that there is something I can do about it. When you go to view wild animals’ in their natural habitat there is a chance you will not see them. How is it that people do not understand this? And if it is not clear to you why are you not asking questions about how it works. It is important that all passengers understand they are not going out to watch a show. I am always very disappointed when guests do not see whales but this is a chance you take. These animals are wild; they are not penned, or tracked. My apologies to those of you that feel this is an insensitive response but folks if you want a 100% guarantee go to Sea World or rent “Free Willy”. We see whales 90% of the time, which means we do not see whales 10% of the time. Most people are able to understand this situation and most people feel that our return guarantee is very fair; I am sorry Mr and Mrs. Mantynen that you see otherwise.

“Hughes - Canada Sept 2012”
Reviewed September 21, 2012

Booked this company after going through hundreds of different companies on the internet. The write ups were good and I can say that they were all proved correct. As with all wildlife they do not appear to order, however we saw two separate pods on our trip. The day was well organised from being picked up at Canada Place to the arrival at the boat and the issue of wet weather gear. We were on the boat for a total of six hours and enjoyed the ride as much as the whales. The scenery around the islands is excellent and the apperance of the whales topped it all off. It is not a cheap trip but it is the only way to see these animalis in their natural environment.
Try and get the front seat, although it can be a little bumby the view is excellent, also do not be afraid to go up top for an exhillarating thrill.

“The Best Whale Watch EVER”
Reviewed September 17, 2012

Tremendous journey and a trip of a lifetime....and by the way...the date we went was in 2008, but the TripAdvisor date line does not let you go back that far. BUT....I felt this was worth sharing. We were cruising out of Vancouver to Alaska, and wanted to see Orcas, so we scheduled the morning trip with Vancouver Whale Watch. Their shuttle picked us up right outside out hotel beside Canada Place. After a scenic journey, we arrived at the small village of Steveston. We were given our warm, overalls and off we went in our zodiac. What a fabulous trip. We had two brilliant guides who gave us running commentaries on everything in these beautiful waters and the surrounding areas. How much better can you get, than to see all 3 ORCA pods, sea lions, eagles, snow capped mountains, pristine waters, and beautiful blue skies. One pod headed right for our zodiac and our guide slowly manuevered over to give them just a bit more room, and they glided by us, close enough to touch. This was a trip of a lifetime and as our guides said "It does not get any better than this, folks." I took these 4 pictures with a small Canon pocket camera, so you know the orcas were close....no zoom lenses here.

“Knowledgeable Staff, very friendly!”
Reviewed September 16, 2012

We booked a morning trip and transfer from Downtown Vancouver! When we boarded the boat our guide explained that they didn't see any whales the day before but they would do their best to make sure we saw some today! And boy did they! We went out a lovely trip in search of Orca's, the guide beening really infomative and chatty all the time. We travelled to a group of 7 or 8 Orca's hunting and spent a good amount of time with them, always following at a safe and non intimidating distance! IT WAS BREATH TAKING! On the way back in to Stevenson our guide explained that they had cancelled the afternoon excursion because the'd rather guarantee that one morning group saw them rather than having to head back because time was up and neither group see any whales! This really impressed me! Best day ever! (Also wander around the village of Stevenson! It's really pretty and it's the set for Once Upon A Time, they film in the high street frequently!)

“Wow!”
Reviewed September 12, 2012

We reviewed this trip and many whale watch tours before we left the UK and did the trip on our third day in Vancouver. Richmond was about 30 minutes from Downtown and if you find the seafront you find Vancouver Whale Watch. We booked in the morning for the 2 pm tour, we're given a free parking ticket for a car park close by and told to be back by 1.30. We went to a restaurant for lunch and then back to collect our yellow suits. Once down on the dock we boarded the boat. We sat at the back, was told it was the noisy part but less bumpy. It was fine, and not really noisy at all. The front was very bumpy. There is a tiny loo on the boat, make sure you go before you board would be my advice! The Captain had a knowledgable 'helper' who told us where we would be going, how long it would take and what we could expect to see. We were given water and a snack bar and kept informed about every aspect of the journey, including the islands we passed and the wildlife. We saw harbour seals, bald eagles and after an hour and a half after leaving the Fraser river, we saw whales. We followed them at the safe distance as stated by law, for an hour and half. We took amazing photos and were a lot closer than we ever thought! The ride back was chilly and hats and gloves were needed. An amazing experience, so much so that, when we got back to Richmond, we booked to go the next weekend and do it all again.
