“Tranquil, peaceful”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 24, 2013

Whether or not you idenitfy as Buddhist, this is a great place to spend an hour in a peaceful setting. Many large Buddhas in an outdoor, park like setting, incense offerings burning (outdoors so not in your face) and a serenity. Just the opposite of a Western style church with a structured service; this is as you wish and on your terms.

“Nice environment”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 4, 2013

The rain spoiled it for us but this is a great temple. If you're in the area, recommended. It's got a nice garden where you can take photos. The incense aroma was soothing. Photography inside the temple is prohibited.

“Beautiful”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 21, 2013

The sun was shining the day we visited this tranquil place. The gardens are simple and beautifully laid out and tended. We seemed to be the only ones not praying, bowing or laying gifts of flowers or fruit in front of the many shrines but that didn't matter. I didn't see any monks, there was no-one to hassle, judge or enquire after you. There is a small souvenir shop where you can purchase religious icons, incense and flowers should you wish to. There is also a restaurant (we didn't go) offering, for a donation, vegetarian lunches.

“a very serene location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 2, 2013

You don't need to be Buddhist or even religious to visit this temple. The building architecture alone is reason enough to visit, beautiful buddhas, as well as the beautifully kept grounds and gardens. No fee to enter, but donations gratefully accepted. The staff are very friendly. No pictures allowed inside the temple. A great piece of Chinese history, just off the beaten path of No.5 Road in Richmond. A wonderful place to sit and think your problems away.

“Worth a visit”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 27, 2013

I had no idea that this temple existed, but I am happy we checked it out. Beautiful gardens and striking buildings. Admission was free and we were basically allowed to wander around looking at the grounds and the temple. There was no photography allowed in certain areas, but there was signage for that.

There was some english signage, but I do wish there had been a bit more explanation about what the various objects, monuments, buildings were for.

Beautiful place tucked away in Richmond.
