They certainly have been in marketing mod for this attraction. We really enjoyed the boardwalk and the services along it.

We have lived in Steveston for 34 years so have seen all the changes but so much remains the same.
- Super friendly staff in every store and establishment.
- Everybody seems to be smiling including the visitors.
- Dog friendly to the extreme!
- OK so I can't park all the time in front of any store but then the parking lot is OMG 182 steps away.
- We sometimes need to make reservations and Shane at the Steveston Seafood House can't always give us a window seat.
- The Farmers Market has booths that sell out so we have to get there early.
- When you take your dog to the fish Warf one of you has to stay on top while the other goes down the ramp and buys fresh salmon, halibut, sablefish, Alaskan black cod, shrimp or crab.
- You can't take your dog when you go whale watching with one of the two companies from the harbor.
So much has changed but then we just have to suck it up put the smile on and remember we are a tourist destination.

Sincerely,

Biased in Steveston.

Steveston has so much to offer - quaint shops, great restaurants, and interesting lessons in history. What I have not seen in these other reviews is the recommendation to walk down the boardwalk, all the way to the old Japanese fishing village. They have revamped this whole area to include remakes of early century settlements of the fishers and railworkers in the area. If you are lucky, often there are art shows taking place in the Chinese Bunkhouse. It is only a 15 minute walk along the boardwalk, heading east. If you plan your visit over the Richmond Maritime Festival - you will LOVE it. There are costumed musicians playing the fiddle in trees, 'lovers' singing in boats, art displays, skits, heritage tours and even face painting for kids. This usually occurs in August.

This is an interesting spot to visit. Guides are friendly and have so much history to tell us about. I would not have wanted to work there in those years long ago, but for some people it was their way of life.
