Recently stayed here for 5 nights while attending a training course at the Oval, which was within walking distance, and was the preferred supplier of rooms for the course, I think we got a bit of a rate break.
Rooms were very clean, and quiet...we had an inside room to the courtyard, which at times was a bit loud with kids using the pool area, but wasn't really a problem. Pool and hot tub are outdoors. We didn't know this prior, and found it a bit cool to use in evenings.
Desk staff was good. Initial lady checking in was very friendly and courteous. Through the week, a couple of the older gentlemen at the desk seemed more interested in staring at the computer screen than us, the people in front of them. But again, not bad, just could have been a bit more hospitable.
Overall, the hotel is close to airport, but not so much so you hear the planes. It is very close to the Richmond Downtown mall, as well as many very good restaurants. Also, the city train is very close, which gets you anywhere in Vancouver.
What we enjoyed most was the terrific fitness center that was the best we have ever seen in a hotel. Very high end modern equipment, a few different areas to work out, water, towels, etc...all machines had cable TV screens on them....very nice!
Dining room is standard, and food is pretty good. WE had breakfast buffet a couple of times..its a bit pricey for what you get, but we found that for Richmond/Vancouver in general.
Nice sports bar and lounge just off the lobby, nice atmosphere.
Great shuttle service to and from airport.
What we disliked most was the beds and bedding. We are used to a firm mattress...however, this mattress was the softest we have ever felt. You sunk way down in it...not that it was worn, just way to soft...the bedding was also a bit annoying. The sheets were the type that are "loud" when you move them ....almost like they are stiff feeling. The bed cover and pillows were huge and fluffy. So, the soft bed and the fluffy cover, made you feel like you were sleeping in a trough or cacoon. Some might like this, we just were not used to it...you sunk down into the bed, but your head stayed propped up on the huge pillows. Again, more just personal opinion.
Internet was about $10 a day, but we didn't use it.
Would we stay there again, you bet, we got used to the bedding and all else was just fine.
