We chose the Westin for a Day Stay, having left a cruise ship early in the morning before an evening flight back to the UK, and found it good value at $113 canadian dollars. The taxi ride from the cruise ship terminal was also good value at $35 canadian dollars, plus tip.
We arrived at the hotel at around 8.15 am, and were greeted by two very friendly receptionists, who checked us in quickly and efficiently, and also booked us on to the free shuttle the hotel run to the airport for later that afternoon (the airport is two miles away).
The bedroom was huge as was the bed, which was a bit like what I would imagine falling into a huge marshmallow would be, it was comfortable, although a little soft for our liking. The TV had more channels than we had ever came across previously. The bathroom was also a good size and well equipped.
The wi-fi was excellent and free to us as SPG (Sheraton, Westin etc.) frequent stayers, we were also given a couple of free bottles of mineral water. There was also an ice machine on our corridor. The room keys were high spec an you just had to wave them at the door lock. They were also needed for the lift.
The worst thing about this hotel was the breakfast which we paid for separately. The service was excellent, but my bagel with cream chase was tasteless, and my husband's omelette had the strongest tasting cheese he has ever had. Price wise it was typical of most four star hotels. The black coffee also wasn't up to much
We decided we would also relax in the hotel's jacuzzi for a while. This took a while as the pool and gym area were said to be located on floor 5, but it was a longish walk down another staircase and along a couple of corridors to reach it.
There are changing rooms, but you need to pick up the towels outside it to take in with you. There is a fair sized gym, and pool. The jacuzzi was fine, but the jets were all located very low (my husband had hoped to treat his bad shoulder, and the switch to turn the jacuzzi on was located at the other side of the pool are (some distance away) and near the changing rooms, so if you wanted to stay in for longer than 15 minutes, one of you had to get out and walk all the way across to turn it back on....somewhat strange.... Still, it was welcome to have a jacuzzi.
All in all we had a lovely stay here, and if we did ever go back to Vancouver, we would certainly choose to stay here again, as the level of service was very high.
