We had lunch here today and it was excellent.
The main courses were huge with really fresh ingredients.
Staff friendly , helpful and knowledgeable.
I would recommend the chicken burger !
We will return .

Stopped off on a trip from Inverness to London: great location not too far from motorway. The staff were excellent, very friendly and working very hard to please. We arrived early and were given a choice of rooms. We choose room 5 which was further from the top of the stairs. Room was clean and tidy and bed extremely comfortable. The hairdryer was the most powerful I have ever had in any hotel! A great value for money find and would certainly stay there again.

Lovely pub , very friendly and dogs welcome. We were a party of 4 including 2x 11 year old girls . The main meals were beautiful ....the only negative was that the accompanying vegetables which were well cooked and fresh were cold .... i would suggest if the plates had been warmer this would alleviate this problem .Apart from that the carbonaras went down very well with both kids and me and hubby didn't leave much on the plate! But the kids will say that the best part of the visit was the desserts .... Chocolate Fudge cake impressed but they are still raving about the butterscotch and vanilla cheesecake. Another bonus was the selection of games they had to keep the younger ones occupied whilst we waited for the food to arrive.
Staff were lovely and hubby was impressed with the local beer!! All in all would definitely recommend .

Lovely area, nice people, fantastic walking and photography.
Food a bit basic ... Rooms were ok but didn't fit in the cost bracket ( yes they were over priced).
If you have children unless they love walking... Stay closer to a town.

Lovely country pub set in the beautiful village of Askam. Good food, beer and service with the added bonus of being dog friendly. Will definitely return on my next visit to the area and would definitely recommend to any visitors to the area

The food let down an otherwise fantastic venue. A real shame given the efforts of all the staff. Having never felt the need to leave feedback before, on this occasion I felt compelled to do so in order for things to change. I hope the feedback will be taken in that context.

The standard of the food was let down by a poor pasta dish, pin bones in the fish and an over cooked pork chop, more specifically on the pasta dish;
Uncooked pasta
Carbonara sauce that was more of a roux
Fatty bacon
Too small a portion on the pasta
Mushrooms too scarce (three) in total in the dish

Here's hoping things change.

Stayed here for a night with friends after a local challenge event. It was a lovely area to recover with some good drinks and food. The service and the staffs friendly manner made all the difference. Breakfast in the morning was freshly prepared and was delicious (took slightly longer than expected but well worth the wait). We would definitely visit again.
