We were staying in the lake District, called in here and were impressed. The place was busy, beer was good, landlord and company friendly with excellent food. We will certainly call again and maybe try a stay.

My fiance and I went to lake district, and had a previously booked hotel. In our booked hotel there was no good service, and we went looking for a good place to eat. We found the queens head inn and received AMAZING service, with even more AMAZING food! had we not had a hotel already we would have stayed in The Queens Head Inn, in a heartbeat. We were only in lake district for 2 days and both days we went back to eat there (you must have the lasagna from here!! just amazing, and great value!). Everyone who we saw there was having great time, thanks to a great service and lovely place!!

Hi
Stayed here with a couple of friends and my puppy we all had a great time and were made very welcome. A dog trainer was even provided in the bar to help with puppy training! Food was great and we all enjoyed our meals in the evening. Rooms small but clean and were adequate for a short stay.

Like the village (picture postcard), friendly, comfortable pub / hotel, nice people, enjoyed the food and Ruby the border terrier is welcome as well! Have the full breakfast and you won't need lunch. Like home but with a bar and real ales. Lovely walk over the fells to Pooley Bridge if you're that way inclined.

Sometimes you just get lucky. We needed a place for a group of friends to stay close to the Rheged Centre. We needed 3 rooms, the Queens Head only had 2 available. Never mind, Eileen gave a friend a ring and sorted out a room in a B&B in the village a couple of minutes walk away. And that was just the way it was ... we needed supper promptly at 6, no problem; one of us needed to be up and away early, no problem, breakfast was laid out for him; got back filthy dirty from a mountain bike ride after checking out, no problem, there's a shower if you want one (in a room that had already been cleaned!). Nothing was too much trouble. What else can we say, the food was terrific, the rooms clean and comfortable and they had some well kept real ales and a good selection of wine at the bar. Simply wonderful hospitality

We had a meal here over the bank holiday weekend. Chose the Queens as we'd seen it mentioned in the top 50 pubs in Cumbria life magazine. I've been to the Queens a good few times over the years and it was, and still is a nice cosy country pub, so, why am I disappointed? The beer was ok. The food was only average and I did expect more from somewhere ranked in the top 50 in the county. I've eaten in better places that weren't listed in this publication so, is it just a subscription thing to make the top 50? The menu was adequate but in reality basic, the food quality ok but nothing more. The real gripe? Slow! The place was not busy, but food took best part of an hour to arrive, we were close to walking. Sadly it may be a while before we return.
