We were staying a few miles down the road and hadn't realised we were so close to this old friend, we had to call in again.
Once again the staff were very welcoming and friendly and the menu had a great range of foods. The service was great and when the food arrived there was nothing to complain about, well-cooked tasty dishes served hot. The pub bar has a warm and friendly atmosphere and this adds to a very pleasant experience. No doubt we will be back.

We stayed here for one night when travelling to Scotland and it was an ideal stop over. Good location close to M6 and also the lakes. The pub had loads of character and the staff were really friendly making us and our dog feel very welcome. Our room was comfortable but a little small. The food, both the evening meal and breakfast was very good. We would definitely stay here again.

Situated just south west of Penrith this historic inn is well situated for the motorway, Penrith which is worth a visit and eastern parts of the lakes such as Ullswater and Haweswater although being close to the A66 most places are a relatively short drive away. The room was pretty standard fare for a B&B but had all I needed and I slept well and it was reasonably priced and with it being a pub no need to drive anywhere after a couple in the bar (Its a Robinsons pub). The sausage festival was on so I didn't really try the menu although the sausages were a bit pricier that I was expecting at £3.50 for one in a bap with onions. Breakfast was pleasant. Staff welcoming and helpful, very nice landlady.

Room Tip: Most rooms seemed to be at the front but the road is quiet and views were of a field of sheep

This was our second visit on our way south. Old world pub with excellent food and good service. This time I went for the gammon, last time it was the steak & ale pie. We find The Queens Head Inn, Tirrel to be unquestionably better than most motorway services.

If a stranger to the area have faith in your Satnav. When approaching Tirril on the B5320 from Penrith beware of a sign pointing left to a similar named pub in the village Askham (just after you have crossed the railway), just keep on the B5320.

Room Tip: Make sure you navigate to the Queens Head Inn, Tirrel CA10 2JF

Lovely relaxed atmosphere. The staff were lovely and nothing was too much trouble. We were welcomed like one of the family!

Room small but comfortable. Good value for money though. Heading down for a second visit at end of June.
