We went to this pub for the first time on Saturday. The restaurant and bar itself are lovely. Very quaint and extremely clean and tidy (completely different to the Horse and Farrier in Dacre!). The food choices are excellent (something for everyone including me, as I don't eat red meat). I was spoilt for choice. Everything was nicely presented and very tasty. The stroganoff did have a slightly sickly taste (not sure if it was tarragon?) but everything else was spot on. Nice vegetable selection and well cooked and the Pepper and Paprika sauce was exceptional. We will definitely return. The staff were very pleasant, efficient and helpful.

They've got the market cornered as the only pub in the village but they leave nothing to chance.
The staff are friendly, helpful and happy. The drinks are superb and the food is clearly freshly made and really high quality.
The place is busy but we were never made to feel unwanted and the children were made to feel as important as we were.
There's a village shop in the back too, so if you're staying in the village as we were, this place has the lot.

Very welcoming and friendly. Just stayed for a night with two friends, room clean and tea and coffee facilities provided. Breakfast was lovely and freshly made to order, with plenty of tea, coffee and toast if we needed it, but we were full for the day! I would definitely recommend here.

We have just returned from a 2 night stay. The accommodation was good and the service from the staff and owner was excellent. We spent time in the bar area and ate in the restaurant both nights, the food was lovely. Really great location being near Penrith, but only minutes from Ullswater. Would certainly recommend and stay again.

My partner was playing his sax locally so we decided to stay over for the night and what a great find! The best pub we've stayed in, it's a lovely, well cared for with a great staff team. The owners have got it just right!

Our room was lovely, very clean, well-presented, just the right size and of course a comfortable bed. We had a light supper before going to the concert and the service was excellent. When we returned they'd stopped serving food but nothing was too much trouble and a lovely plate of fresh sandwiches soon arrived.

We slept well had a great breakfast, local produce and once again enjoyed super customer service. As we left we had a lovely warm wave from the owner as she watered the wonderful flower displays outside.

We travel extensively and enjoy good food and accommodation and would highly recommend this as a great place to stay. The owner is lovely, she obviously understands customer care and has created a great atmosphere in her pub. We will definitely return.
