Really pleased you enjoyed staying at Cheese Press Cottage and the brownies are nothing to do with me as it's my daughter's recipe so I just copy it! My pet sheep seem to be getting fatter by the day but they are not going anywhere so am sure they will be here if you return! All 3 of them are now eating from my hand and keeping the grass down which saves my husband a job mowing it! Jane

Had a weekend break in the Peak District for my wife's birthday. Beautiful cottage in a beautiful location. Visited Leek, Buxton and Bakewell which are all around 30min drive from the cottage. Highly recommended, hope to be back one day!

“Quintessentially English!”
Reviewed June 16, 2017 for a stay in June 2017

I have stayed at Biggin Grange at the Cheese Press Cottage for an idyllic week. It is the most beautiful setting one can imagine. Hills and dales dotted with the sight of sheeps and cattle. Awakened in the morning to the sound of bird songs and the view of the magnificent Derbyshire countryside.

I have been welcomed warmly by the hosts who look over their beautiful property. And beautiful it is indeed, surrounded by stone wall encompassing the land . This Cottage is simply charming. It has all the amenities one might need. It is decorated tastefully and is most comfortable. Attention to details abounds down to special attentions to make any guest feel at home.

This location is ideal to explore the Peak District with its quaint villages such as nearby Hartington, Monyash and the town of Bakewell. ... A tad afield is the ducal estate of Chartsworth and its surrounding villages of Edensor, Pilsley and Beeley. It is also perfect for outdoor activities or plainly relaxing.

The Cheese Press Cottage or any of the other cottages at Biggin Grange are set in this wonderful environment to entice one to serenity, peacefulness where tranquility dominates. ... Simply enchanting!

Thank you so much Francois for the lovely review. You were a delight to have to stay and thank you for bringing over the maple syrup from Canada for me - it is delicious! Also the bottle of fizz was drunk in our garden by Richard and myself in the sunshine - what a treat! I hope you make the trip over again and come and see us in Derbyshire again. Jane

“Fantastic little cottage located in a beautiful picturesque area”
Reviewed April 5, 2017 for a stay in March 2017

This cottage is a great place for a getaway in the Peak District; an ideal isolated location with plenty of natural beauty around and places to walk and explore. The nearby village is also a short stroll away and has a pub which does great food, and there are also plenty of towns nearby to visit. The cottage itself is well stocked with everything you could need, and the bed is super comfy! There are some great little touches such as a wood burning fireplace, board games and DVDs which add to making you feel at home and giving plenty to do on a night in. We had a really enjoyable stay - whether you are looking to walk through some stunning countryside or simply to relax and escape the world for a few days, this is the perfect place to do so - would highly recommend!

Had a lovely stay at Cheese Press Cottage. It's in the perfect location for a tranquil weekend away. We came here on our Mini-moon after getting married the day before. The cottage was well kept and warm and cosy on arrival. The views surrounding the cottage are superb. Easy to walk to local pubs and Biggin Hall for a nicer dinner. Hartington is nearby and can be easily driven/walked to. Also, the bed is SOOO comfy.
