Beautiful, quaint, elegant, picturesque, friendly, helpful, and great food. We included the meal package in our bed & breakfast and were very pleased we did as apart from the fact that it was delicious, there was not much else around.
If you love to walk, there are great walking tracks all around and a few little villages within a 10 min drive.

We have just returned from a lovely one night break from the old routine at Biggin Hall. The only thing we found wrong was that we didnt stay long enough and we will definately return. Everything about the hotel is relaxing and just what we needed in a break away from city life. We stayed in room 23 which was in one of the out buildings. The room was lovely with a large bed and nice views across open fields, it was very peaceful as away from the main house. We enjoyed complimentary pimms in the lounge before dinner which was a nice touch. Dinner itself was fabulous with just enough choice, the food and complimentary wine were both lovely and were followed by cheese and biscuits and coffee and mints in the lounge. We thought the deal was great value for everything you got and really enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere of the hotel. Breakfast didnt disappointed either and we found all the staff to be friendly and helpful. We couldnt ask for more from Biggin Hall and would both return and recommend to anyone whatever age. Cant wait to return and will stay for longer next time!!

Stayed here for four nights last week in July. Lovely place. We stayed in the external rooms and honestly had no complaints. Everyone was so helpful in every way (top marks for Emma always there with advice and assistance). The breakfast every morning was very good and we had no complaints. Never in all my years travelling has anyone given us a complimentary lunch and we had them each day and so nice they were too. We walked, cycled, ran and explored everywhere. The weather was excellent. Top marks for all at Biggin

We stayed in the coach house and had a nice big room with decent bathroom and quiet surroundings. This 'annex' is on the road but it is a very quiet road, certainly in February, so we were not disturbed. The free mulled wine before dinner and the free packed lunches (a winter offer) were a nice touch and the food was, as on previous visits, very good. This hotel attracts a mixed crowd, city types who enjoy the 'country house' atmosphere and more down to earth 'walkers' who appreciate the easy walking access to Biggin Dale and from there on down to the quiet end of Dovedale. It is a bit quirky: no real bar (although pre-dinner drinks are served) and you can order after dinner until the staff disappear which is fairly soon after everyone has had coffee. There are always lots of repeat visitors though so if it is your sort of place you will probably visit more than once, as we have.

We stayed here with our family a couple of years age, and thought it was great, so we all went there again yesterday for Sunday lunch and it was still great!

We like good local food, well cooked, served with the minimum of fuss but with complete attentiveness to our needs, and that is what we got.

It is a delightful house enjoying a superb setting and run in a way which uses the character of the house and the surroundings to its advantage. All of this is clearly set out in their advertising, so the choice is yours.

We think it is excellent.

I feel I must say something after reading jezzabelles comments, though I haven't stayed there I have visited to eat 3 times in 2 months.
We found Biggin Hall by accident after apub lunch for my husbands birthday, we decied to move on for coffe and pudd and saw Biggin Hall was offering afternoon teas. As you enter the main entrance there is a sign requesting you call reception for service we thought that was quaint. We were quickly and efficiently looked after and our coffee and delicious desserts soon followed. As we sat in the hall diners from lunch were leaving the dining room obviously happy with their lunch and the whole atmosphere was warm and friendly. As we have provided B & B for the last 20 years we took sample menus home to put in our folder for our own guests. A month later we invited friends to come with us for dinner, yes dinner is a 7pm and Pimms is served at 6.30pm but we could have ordered a different drink in we wanted to.Again the service and food and price were excellent as was the wine we ordered with our meal. 2 days later some of our guests went for lunch and loved it.
We went again 4 days ago and have booked again for 2 weeks time when we have family visiting.
I will have no problem reccommending Biggin Hall to friends and guests even though it is some distance it is worth the journey.
The place had a very nice feel to it as soon as you go in, warm and friendly.
Perhaps sophisticates from London wh book a 17c Hall should expect to find something of ambience and character of something that age. Perhaps Jezzabelle should stick to what she used to Travel Lodge by the sound of it.

We booked to stay here with our dog so that we could enjoy walking in the Peaks. What a great choice it was. Joe, our spaniel, was allowed in our room which was in one of the ground floor rooms in the court yard buildings, which he considered a great bonus.
We booked for dinner, bed and breakfast - the food for dinner was superb - best food we have had in many a while. Several choices of course, cooked, served and presented brilliantly - the pastry on my goats cheese tart melted in your mouth.
We will certainly return - great value too!
