“Great place to stay.”
Reviewed July 11, 2013 via mobile

Enjoyed our stay here, book online and it's cheaper, we decided to stay a 3rd night and they couldn't give us the same price but still stayed as it was Convenient for us. We had to move house due to the last minute stay, but had no problems doing this. Rooms are clean and kept well. Work going on at the moment but it didn't affect us. Would stay again if we were coming to Sydney.

Great value and wonderful staff. So helpful friendly and thoughtful. The lodge is a great idea and the room was of a very high standard. Great facilities only wish we could have stayed longer. But from what we have seen all Big4 sites are excellent either self catering or if touring in camper/caravan.

Stayed in the Lodge. Really just a hotel room but with access to cooking facilities. OK for a couple of days. Only a small proportion of this park seems to be for holidaymakers, the vast majority are permanent residents.

I'm sure this was a great caravan park for a long time. However, it is in the process of being converted into a Retirement Community (i.e., building homes for retirees to live in). As a result, while the remaining facilities are very clean and tidy, several of the family-related amenities such as Playground and Jumping Pillow are no longer there (there is a public playground 7 minutes walk away). The pool remains very nice. However, there is a fair bit of activity during the day due to construction (working vehicles, noise) making it a less than ideal holiday location. OK for a night or two but really not much longer if you are in a caravan or motorhome.

Room Tip: There is a mall within walking distance (~15 minutes away) which has a Coles supermarket, and other...

This was our second stay at the Sydney Gateway. There is a large selection of villas, powered and ensuite sites. We have always stayed in a villa, last time in the Waratah, this time in the Eucalyptus. The villas are very nicely furnished with everything you'll need for your stay, complimentary welcome tea/coffee/sugar/milk are provided. Different villas have different number of bedrooms, some have ensuites.
We found our villa very clean both times we stayed here.
The park has a nice pool/spa area, laundry facilities, games room and a jumping pillow plus some outdoor games.
Would definitely stay again if in Sydney with children.

Okay, not our style of caravanning but this place is clean and convenient to the largest city in Australia. Kids are entertained with the facilities (pool and play area) and the accommodation is very clean.

The only reason we stayed here was because Lane Cove Tourist Park was fully booked and this was the next closest caravan park option. This tourist park has literally everything that it is almost staying in a suburban home of Sydney (perhaps an attraction to some, such as overseas visitors). We hired an ensuite site for the Christmas period and we had to pay the entire amount up front using a credit card (Note: non-refundable). As we prefer bush camping and caravanning in national parks, this is not entirely what we were after but it is a safe place for kids and facilities are abundant (too long to list, but includes two pools!), well taken care of and the location is very convenient to Sydney. The caravan lots are close together and are a bit like the way houses are built up against each other in western Sydney!

All the excellent facilities come at a price. The ensuite site was $115/day (2 adults, 3 children) which is twice the rate of Lane Cove Tourist Park which is situated in National Park and is more conveniently located closer to Sydney near a train station that you can walk to. It is well advised to compare the price of an ensuite site with a powered only site as the price is not that different. Ensuite site represented better value for us with three children. The ensuite is not entirely well designed as the water leaks onto the floor from the shower and with very few hanging hooks for towels it can end up being wet with lots of kids. The ensuite shower was also very low on the wall (160cm) so suitable for children but even too low for short people like me (170cm). Also the outside light on the ensuite cannot be turned off or dimmed at night so that shines into our caravan at night. I had to improvise with a carboard to cover the light.

If you want to see what it's like to live in the suburbs of Sydney outskirts, this caravan park is a great introduction to that environment (you're literally surrounded and located within the western suburbs). If you want to see the Australian bush and wildlife, then don't bother with this place and go to Lane Cove Tourist Park down the M2. These caravan parks represent opposite ends of the spectrum and they are both very well equipped in their own right. Sydney Gateway is a convenient and relatively cheap option compared to a hotel if you need to visit Sydney.
