We have dined here on and off over a number of years but I had not been here for quite a while It is good to see it has not changed. The restaurant is not in the greatest of locations but it has a warm and welcoming atmosphere in the stone and woodwork, the tables are not too close together and there is an outside area. Car parking is very good. The staff are most cheerful, ever accommodating and make the experience of dining here most pleasant. There is a small but adequate wine list with an emphasis on run of the mill New Zealand wines that are very drinkable. Food is served in good quantities and if nothing else you will not go from here hungry. Food is good solid suburban fare that is tasty, well presented and while not exciting in a haute cuisine sense is perfectly fine for a dinner with a few friends that is eminently relaxing and leaves you feeling you have had value for money and an altogether pleasant experience.
There is a fireplace and couches with a sort of sports bar area at one end with television with gives the whole place that relaxing, local feel. So, fine dining - no; good enjoyable few hours out and a satisfied appetite -yes.
