We have dined here on and off over a number of years but I had not been here for quite a while It is good to see it has not changed. The restaurant is not in the greatest of locations but it has a warm and welcoming atmosphere in the stone and woodwork, the tables are not too close together and there is an outside area. Car parking is very good. The staff are most cheerful, ever accommodating and make the experience of dining here most pleasant. There is a small but adequate wine list with an emphasis on run of the mill New Zealand wines that are very drinkable. Food is served in good quantities and if nothing else you will not go from here hungry. Food is good solid suburban fare that is tasty, well presented and while not exciting in a haute cuisine sense is perfectly fine for a dinner with a few friends that is eminently relaxing and leaves you feeling you have had value for money and an altogether pleasant experience.
There is a fireplace and couches with a sort of sports bar area at one end with television with gives the whole place that relaxing, local feel. So, fine dining - no; good enjoyable few hours out and a satisfied appetite -yes.

Bricklane doesn't pretend to be something other than what it is very good pub food. The portions are large and a main with a entrée or dessert is more than enough. Service is very good without being overwhelming and the price is reasonable. I had the fish and chips my partner had the Fillet steak both meals were great.

Dining on a Friday night in a group of four there was a nice welcoming atmosphere with equally welcoming staff. We received prompt and efficient service with drink and food orders. Each diner was happy with their choice of meals ...delicious...and the portions were of a very decent size. Reasonably priced too.

We had a large group pre-booked to dine here on a Sunday evening. We were seated by the booked time of 7.30 but were told that some selected choices would take 45 minutes to arrive. After waiting for 90 minutes they finally appeared. My pan fried fish main was dry with a measly three prawns on top (probably had been sitting under the hot warming lights for some time), and the dessert that did not eventuate until nearly 10pm consisted of two slices of a gluey dried fruit slab with three scoops of a commercial icecream masquerading as xmas pudding - very unappetising and quite unsatsfactory. Both the food and he wine also appeared quite over-priced for a suburban pub-style eatery. Service was also mediocre. Very disappointed. Do not go there - there is nothing special about it.

A family group of 10 we went for a birthday dinner. Relaitvely busy that night (an All Black test was in town, with all the travellers and viewers that entailed), but the wait staff were very efficient and got us sorted in no time,
Food was very tasty and on the button - the only hiccup was one of our mains orders did not make it to the kitchen, but to her credit the waitress at our table on realising her mistake was hugely apologetic, rushed thru the order (by this stage the rest of the tables mains had arrived) and stayed with our table tending to the 'lost' party until his meal arrived, then ensured that main was on the house. End of the day thats the epitomy of good service - mistakes happen, its how you pick yourself up, own the problem and fix it to keep the customer happy!
