We needed a place with free parking in Auckland and in the end, we had to park on the street. We had a room that smelled really bad. There was never space in the fridges and it was just generally not very clean. Having said that, we met the owner in reception and he was really informative and we had a pretty good laugh.

I stayed at Borders Beyond Backpacker for 2 weeks and I really enjoyed my stay. The manager, David, is very helpful and knows Auckland and NZ very well, so he gave me good tips! The backpacker is quite small and immediately makes you feel like home. The outdoor area with a BBQ is great and the CBD is a 10min walk away, with shopping center and everything you need very close by. I stayed at other backpackers in Auckland (Nomads) and in other cities in NZ but I must honestly say that this is the best backpacker I've been to! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Small homey hostel 5 minutes away from Downtown Auckland,Ponsonby,The viaduct & most funky neighborhood.
Shared Kitchen ,clean and workable.Rooms are simple ,but well cared for.Little terrace where everyone socializes in many languages....But what really makes the place is David & his crew....They are welcoming caring and fun...Last but not least free parking.

We stayed one week in january 2012 in a double room. The room was large enough. It's a little backpacker, we liked it. It's a quiet place where you can rest if you want. 25 min to downtown. Don' t hesitate reserve now !

Its a nice and small backpacker. Lots of permanents there. So there is always something going on. I stayed there for a few months and I enjoyed myself.

It's clean and the staff is friendly and helpfull. Would go there again, I can recommend it.

This small backpackers gets you by surprise! nothing flashy, no the big fuzz or the bars as the big ones...But what an atmosphere! just like a family, everybody was cooking to share! everyone gets to party together, the owner will help you for anything you would need. Nice BBQ area, just such a homy and relax, quiet place(even close to CBD) .
The bedroom look like old fashion alpine chalet with the wood. bunk bed in the six bed dorm.
we had a locker as well (it was very safe, as it is in NZ).
They sell some snacks at the reception very cheap ($1.5 can of coke)
I really loved it! David, thanks for the tips for the Sky tower discount, and the cheap drinks at the downtown pubs! Really appreciated. thanks for everything! I'll be back!
I forgot to mention the 50cts for the hot shower, it is unusual but quite responsible for the water saving and the value stays way better than the other hostel around.

Room Tip: the 6 bed dorm is really good value but very often full!
