“Far from top form”
Reviewed May 17, 2013

I have been to this cafe in the past and it was quite solid. On this occasion (a Saturday morning) our long blacks came short, we had to ask for extra hot water, gluten free toast arrived as bagels, a poached egg came with a long blonde hair and a piece of crunchy shell atop some cold toast. Overall it was highly disappointing and for $48 between 2 people it felt like a lot more should have gone right.

“Good coffee...not so sure about food. Service could be better too!”
Reviewed August 19, 2012

We have dined at Meola Kitchaen before, and enjoyed the food on the previous occasion. There were many tables outside on a sunny saturday afternoon and they are clean which is good. We ordered 2 chicken snitzel burgers, a coffee and an orange drink. The coffee arrived promptly and was excellent. We waited 20 minutes for the Burgers, at which point we reminded the waitor of the orange drink. An apology was offered and the drink promptly arrived. The burgers are meant to include caramelised onions but these were missing, which is a shame as the dressing on the burger is very bland, and even though the snitzel and bacon were cooked well and the avocado and lettuce and bun were fresh, there was a definite lack of flavour which when you pay $17.50 a burger is disappointing. The plates the food were served on are huge and with small tables make it a little difficult. Water is available but you must go to the counter and ask for it. Wouldn't it be better to just leave a bottle of water and glasses on the tables like other good restaurants do.The staff are friendly, and there is obviously many regulars, and the coffee was good, but the delay and blandness of our food, and the lack of good service let us down. We have been there before and liked it previously so we'll give it another try in the near future but in the meantime I do hope they try to do better

“Where we run away to...”
Reviewed May 28, 2012

This is where my partner and I run away to when we want a quiet lunch away from the city. The food and coffee are consistently good, the staff are friendly, laid back and casual, the atmosphere relaxed. It's a great place to meet friends, it's dog friendly, and a great spot to sit in the sun with the papers, a glass of wine and a yummy snack or meal. The corncakes with prawns and chipotle butter are a real hit.

“Lots of character and very good espresso”
Reviewed March 18, 2012

Often come here on our bike ride to re-fuel. Really nice suburban feel to the cafe and plenty of seating options, inside and out.
