As a Wedding Celebrant I often get to go to Karekare Beach to conduct weddings, The Waterfall is just up the road from the carpark, easy walk except for real older folk as gravel path to waterfall.
Parking up by waterfall is nil, but this setting is really worth the effort, the beach and sand dunes also wonderful, no shops so take own food, the black west coast sand gets very hot in the summer, plenty of trees for shade around car park but not near the beach, not good swimming beach, strong rips. The Weddings here are always so nice as photos around here are really magic, The road to Karekare is off the Piha Road is windy but good. The movie Piano was made here.
