I’ve been to this central Auckland restaurant a couple of times and Ebusu never disappoints.
The restaurant is upmarket, with a buzzy vibe. Ebisu utilises great local ingredients with contemporary Japanese recipes and gets it right.
Menu highlights include the Beef Tataki, Bluff oysters (if in season), Twice cooked Pork Belly and wonderful sashimi.
The wine list is proficient, many wines are available by the glass.
It’s not a cheap night out- but it’s definitely worth the experience.

I'd recommend going to this restaurant with friends who love real Japanese food. We ordered the more traditional dishes- glazed eggplant, sashimi, yakatori lamb - and it was all sensational. Some of our party were a bit more conservative and stuck with tempura, tofu etc. All good. Desserts were fantastic- especially ice-creams. Reasonable priced good wine, and plenty of atmosphere. Helpful service. One of the best meals we had in Auckland.

This is an extremely popular restaurant so it pays to book! The food is outstanding - some Favourites are the rare wagyu sushi, the wagyu dumplings and the green tea ice cream

Went to Ebisu on a cold winters night only to find it almost fully booked certainly they were turning people away as we were eating. The waiter/waitress was efficient but I had to clarify the fish of the day, stated as " Southern Deep Sea Cod " never heard of it, but the waiter to his credit got to the bottom of it as it turned out to be "Butterfish" The food is exquisite and tasteful but definitely fusion rather than traditional Japanese and therefore obviously very popular with the trendy city set. Definitely not cheap and in the higher price bracket I would say.

Went to dinner with some colleagues at this awesome Auckland venue. Very cool location and vibe near the harbour.

The food was exquisite. We were there to catch up so we told then to just keep bringing us little bits and pieces and I kid you not, I must have had 15 different dishes.

Nice wine selection too.

It was a grat night overall made sweeter cause my boss picked up the tab! :)
