Our group had arrived on a Monday when we decided to explore the city and enjoy the sights right away. That same day we took the ferry to Devonport. Must say it was such a pleasant trip (if you dont get sea sick) and very economical. The weather was a bit cold and breazy, but with patchy skies and plenty of sun, we enjoyed every minute of it. The walk towards the bunker was pleasant and we took lots of pictures as we got closer. Once at the top, we were treated with outstanding views of the city. Must say that its much better, and a different experience, when the sun is out.

It was great to have taken the time to visit. A stop on the way back at a cafe added a calm and relaxing touch to our afternoon. Highly recommended!

Devonport is one of Aucklands most character filled suburbs, and the views from this reserve across the harbour to Auckland, are spectacular

Well worth the short drive (or even jog!). Gorgeous views of Devonport & Auckland City. When we first arrived in NZ 6 years ago, we took the bus trip. It was super to return & spend as much time as we liked.

Nothing I disliked! It was perfect! The view was stunning, overlooking the city and the gulf. On a sunny day a very nice place to have a picnic and make some beautiful photos.

You can climb up the steep hill or drive up to look at the wonderful views from Mt.Victoria. Lying in front is the iconic Rangitoto Island (volcanic) and beyond Waiheke and other islands. On a clear day Coromandel and the Barrier Islands can be seen. Just don't leave valuables in the car.
