“The Mother of all roadside diners... from the 13th century!”
Reviewed October 1, 2011

On your way over the San Bernadino pass? Do not fail to stop here! It's stuck on the side of the main road and looks like somewhere you'd rather not be. But when you get inside and sit at one of the tables in the 13th century vaulted dining room you will be treated and fed like royalty. They love food and want you to love it too. And really not too expensive: two "Menus" with a half bottle of good wine €60!
but really a la carte is quite enough. The menu is in Italian but just ask and let yourself be led down the lane of really well prepared north Italian cuisine.
If you stay the night, (after that meal you won't be able to move anyway) get a room facing the mountain. No view, but no loud cars or trucks either. A great place.

“Beautiful room, delicious food, decent wine list, great service”
Reviewed September 17, 2011

Stopped for lunch today on the advice of a friend - so very glad we back-tracked from Nus and did so! What tremendous ambience in the stone, vaulted-ceilinged room...small portions, but the pasta dishes were original and delicious. A most memorable starter of pancetta and chestnuts - so creative and with marvelous and unusual flavor! Wonderful desserts - and everything was had at a relatively reasonable price. The service was gracious, polished, unobtrusive and professional. We'll be back the next time we head to Italy to shop!
