“Great way to spend an Autumn day in the Cotswolds”

Owner description: Brewery tours run Monday to Sunday, starting from the Visitors Centre, they last approximately 2 hours. The first 1½ hours are spent around the brewery where you'll see our original steam engine, learn about our history and how we make our range of delicious beers. Once outside the Brewery, don't forget to keep an eye out for our working Shire horses, which still deliver beer to our local pubs. If you are planning a visit to the brewery and would like to see the drays on their regular delivery rounds it is always best to phone ahead and check that the shires will be working on that day. In any event, the tour of the brewery includes a tour of the stables so you won’t miss out on seeing these amazing animals. Upon completion of the tour, it's back to our sampling bar in the Visitor Centre for a ½ hour beer tasting. It is essential to book a Brewery Tour by contacting us on the phone or email. Cost: £14.50 per person, £12.00 concessions

“Great way to spend an Autumn day in the Cotswolds”
Reviewed October 29, 2012

What a great way to get a "taste" of history... not to mention, wonderful Cotwold's Ales! The Brewery tour is very informative, and highlights the uniqueness of the traditions and "technology" of the beer making process...which culminates in a tasting at the end (with very generous pours!). The history of the brewery is on full display in it's well preserved Victorian building, which makes for a unique and very rewarding visit! The pride in the process is evident; something lacking in our profit driven times... from the time honored attention to detail and quality, to the beautiful Shire horses that still deliver beer (and colorful stories from their drayman, Roger!) If you are looking for a fun way to spend an afternoon in the Cotwolds, this is it!

“A Fanstatic Day Out”
Reviewed October 27, 2012

What a fanstatic day out we had at Hook Norton Brewery. The day started off straight away with Chris & Nick spitting us into two groups and taking us around this amazing old and well preserved brewery . Their passion for beer making was clear to everyone the tour ended up in the bar allowing us all to enjoy samples of all the Hook Norton beers. Richard thanked us all for coming and made us all laugh with his fun quiz of what we had learned.Overall A Fanstatic Day Out

“Simply the best”
Reviewed October 26, 2012

It was simply a wonderful evening that Hook Norton hosted several weeks ago, a Thai Night with excellent food, beer and hospitality from Richard Hughes. As usual, the evening went with a bang and all in my party thoroughly enjoyed the variety of food and beer on offer.

I am never disappointed when I visit Hook Norton Brewery for what ever reason.

“Excellent Brewery Tour Fun & Informative”
Reviewed October 6, 2012

Great tour of this almost totally unchanged Victorian Brewery. Plenty for both the beer buff and the only mildly curious. Pleasant well informed guide took us on a well paced tour following the process through this splendidly quirky building. Generous tasting included of up to 6 of the different ales explaining the differing ingredients and methods used. Icing on the cake was having sampled the beer ourselves watching one of the Shire hores having a pint before leaving on the daily delivery round.

“Great Traditional Brewery, Well Worth A Visit”
Reviewed October 2, 2012

Hook Norton Brewery is in a small village and appears to have changed little in the last 150 years since it has been brewing beer. No stainless steel in sight and the beer is still delivered to local villages by horse-drawn dray. Malcolm the tour-guide is very knowledgeable and is able to make the hour and a half tour of a small brewery pass very quickly with his repartee. At the end of the tour the tasting session is unstinting with the full range of Hook Norton beers available. There is even a quiz at the end of the tour with lapel pins as prizes. The friendliness and banter amongst the staff and with the tourists creates an intimate feel and makes this tour a must. There is also a shop in the brewery where you can buy all the beers brewed along with t-shirts, baseball caps etc.
