If you really wanted your New Years Eve messed up and say to yourself 'Never again' it would have been one of those nights at the Black 'Spur Inn New Years Eve party' on the 31st of December 2012.
If you see any New Years Eve party advertised at the web side you would expect at least normal attractions like minimum decoration, entertaining dance music in normal level and Champaign at midnight which is not to much to ask -you would think.
But at Black Spur Inn that seems to be all new ideas and why should it be different to other days.-
My wife and I arrived there at 7pm for dinner. there was no indication anywhere that we are having a New Years Eve Party except for the band in one corner preparing there gear.
The dinner itself I have to admit was fantastic as always in preparation and taste also the waitresses where friendly and helpful.
Shortly after 8pm the band started called 'OBJ and the Rockerfellers' but with a loudness level that belongs into a rock concert at the MCG but not into a small restaurant.
Guests where to 80% all middle age to older years ,some mothers with there babies left shortly after 8pm with that deafening noise no wonder -lucky babies!
I am an electronics engineer and I can tell you that the volume control of 2 Electric guitar's, keyboard and drum set was set to 200% and sounded completely distorted all the time.
You would think that the contents of music would be made to get you on the dance floor for fun and entertainment -no such luck except perhaps of a hand full of songs which were also repeated it was mostly R & B ( I think) defiantly not made dancing but always at that enormous distorted loudness. It was not possible to understand anybody including the waitress talking even when they are close to your ear or have a conversation with anyone or your partner. About 9pm people started to move away by going outside into the picnic ground or going home. I also went into our room at the building only to find out that the noise level was so high that we could not understand the New years eves documentations coming from the TV.
When it came close to midnight I went down into the restaurant to get some Champaign only to find out that all guests where gone except for a handful and that just before midnight! At least I finished at midnight with a glass of Champaign in our room looking at channels 9 count down. The rumbling vibrating sound finally stopped at about 15 minutes past midnight-that was our New years Eves party at Black Spur Inn!
I feel sorry for all the other guests which expected an eventful evening with fun and entertainment under normal entertainment music and conditions to dance into the New Year.
To the manager, also being in business for many years I would recommend to you to make some research how to arrange a successful New Years Eve party where guests stay until the last minute wine and dine having conversations and fun dancing into the New Year. (more income for your business also!)
It looked to me as if you where happy that after everybody had there dinner by 8pm everyone left to make it easier for your staff to set the table for the next day without any additional work.
