“What about retsina?”
Reviewed August 18, 2013

Vivanco's wine museum is probably the most complete on this planet, except... there's nothing about the typical Greek resin-flavoured wine, the famous "retsina". When I first visited this museum (this year's visit was the third), I asked the guide about it, and she had never heard of it. Would certainly pass the enquiry... nothing came of it, but if you don't feel like if this small part of wine history were of the utmost importance, you'll certainly enjoy the visit! Back then they also offered a glass of wine after the visit, included in the ticket, but visibly the crisis has come along there as well... Every aspect of wine is present, from gigantic old wine presses to a hands-on display where you can try to distinguish the different scent samples that can occur in wine. This is a museum to visit at ease, trying not to get overwhelmed by the vast amount of information. The environment is quite charming as well... after all, it's La Rioja...

“If you want to know about wine, go there”
Reviewed August 17, 2013

The Museo del Vino surely must be one of the most complete wine museums on earth. Anything you want to know about wine, especially about La Rioja, you will find it there.
Great museum, great tour, nice tasting.

“Fabulous wine museum”
Reviewed August 16, 2013

If you are visiting La Rioja and some of the bodegas this is a fascinating addition to the experience. Well laid out with a lovely gift shop, cafe, interesting displays, lovely gardens and stunning regional views. Allow yourself several hours here to relax and enjoy the environment. Staff were also very helpful when we got lost and couldn't find our way to Abalos, giving us a map and directions, it was only 10 minutes away.

“Great museum of wine”
Reviewed July 4, 2013

Really enjoyed the story this museum told us. Staff were very useful. Don't worry too much if you cannot see the initial film in your language - you can skip it without it denting your experience of the museum. Allow at least 1hr 30 mins for the visit if you are using the headset tour in a language other than Spanish.
