“Fantastic place”
Reviewed April 2, 2014 via mobile

We went to lonely beach for 3 days and 3 nights and it was absolutely wonderful. So peaceful and beautiful. The food was excellent. Bungalows are basic but its nice to be away in paradise for a while. Definitly spread the word so this wonderful place can exist longer!

Stayed 3 nights at Lonely Beach in a bungalow ( the furthest one along - great morning views) and it was amazing. Facilities are basic but Lonely Beach doesn't promise anything it can't deliver. Yes, you do have to pay for everything but overall it is excellent value. The beach is very secluded, food is plentiful, the sea is calm, shallow and warm and Dany is a lovely host. There was lots of wildlife and a few bugs but nothing to make the stay uncomfortable. If you don't mind the 3 hour boat trip you won't be disappointed!

This is a great place for relaxing and taking it easy, completely away from the stresses of travelling in Cambodia. It's a three hour boat journey which leaves at 1pm from Royal pier. If you call Dani then he can let the boat know if you're running late. Dani is very friendly and wants to make your stay as comfortable as possible.

The bungalows are set back from the beach so when you're swimming there's a great view of the white sand beach backed by rainforest. There's lots of walks you can do - but we just took it easy and spent time in the hammocks and on the sun loungers. They rake the beach most days so there aren't many sandflies.

The food is good and reasonably priced considering its all shipped in. Lots of fresh fish, squid and very filling pancakes!

Overall a lovely friendly place for chilling out on a beach. Great if you're after quiet evenings and some bird spotting!

I have been there three nights even if my plans where to stay just 2, but I absolutely felt in love with the place.

The dorm is incredibly placed semi-open air but with mosquito nets and wonderful view of the sea.

The beach is just great and you have also opportunity of doing excursion in the jungle to reach the other part of the coast.

The people working there are absolutely great and you will have great time chatting with Hugo and Danny!!

You must be prepared to bucket showers, no electricity in
the night, no wifi and an uncomfortable boat trip, but the place it's absolutely worth it! I already miss it!

Absolutely recommended!!

Lonely Beach's unbeatably beautiful and isolated location make it a unique haven, an escape from the often frenetic pace of travelling in South East Asia.

The beach itself is truly stunning - lined by palm trees, the sea is an inviting shade of aquamarine, the white sand is fine and very little rubbish seems to wash up. There are plenty of hammocks and sunbeds to go around and the fact that Lonely Beach has only a handful of bungalows means that it's easy to grab a secluded spot.

The bungalows themselves are basic - no running water, no electrical sockets and rudimentary bed linen. The provision of one small towel per person for the entirety of our stay meant that things do get a little grubby and this is mirrored around the resort's path. Whereas the beach is almost spotless, there is some detritus around the place which rather detracts from the natural beauty we were surrounded by.

Food-wise, staying at Lonely Beach pretty much means three meals a day on their wooden restaurant verandah - a stunning location from which to admire the palm trees and the sea. After four nights the lunch and dinner options did become a little repetitive and one becomes reliant on the proprietors securing fresh seafood for the specials board - when they managed to do this, the squid, scallops and marlin dishes were both hearty and delicious but otherwise the variations on noodles / rice / veg / meat do become a little samey after a few nights. I could, however, eat their breakfasts forever - delicious fresh fruit with muesli and huge slabs of pancake washed down with an iced coffee.

Lonely Beach isn't an especially service-orientated destination, but that's part of its charm - everybody, the owners and staff included, is just very chilled out.

If you're not put off by the isolation, basic accommodation and and highly laidback energy, Lonely Beach comes highly, highly recommended.

The location of lonely beach is amazing. The staff here are very friendly, helpful. Great laid back vibe to the place. Food very nice. Bungalow comfortable enough , khmer bathroom takes a little getting used to but is ok for a few days , everyone in same position! The beach is truly amazing. Boat not very comfortable in rough seas but not fault of lonely beach resort!

Rarely have we been anywhere that exceeds our expectations in the way Lonely Beach did. The boat journey is around 3 and a half hours and fairly uncomfortable, but from the moment you pass the headland and see the bay and beach, all that is forgotten. Photographs cannot do it justice. Beautiful white sand, raked daily to eliminate sand fly problems, ring the bay with the Lonely Beach traditional wooden buildings partly hidden by coconut palms and other trees and shrubs.
The accommodation is basic but comfortable and clean.

Before we arrived, my wife and I (who are getting on a bit), were worried that we wouldn't be able tfo cope with the closeness to nature and distance from civilisation, but we absolutely loved it and our 5 night stay came to an end all too quickly.

The food is simple but very good, with a good choice considering the small number of guests. The highlight being the BBQ mackerel caught that day by the joint owner Yogi. There is nowhere else you can go for food and drink but the prices are very reasonable, only slightly higher than mainland restaurant prices, and the quality good.

Without hesitation we would go back. Hopefully development will not spoil this stunning location, but I think it will. Go now before it is too late. No litter, no empty plastic bottles, no hawkers; just beautiful white sand and the sounds of the gently lapping sea and nature. Idyllic!
