“Comfy cozy house with everything you need for a delightful stay in Cape Breton highlands!”
Reviewed September 29, 2018 for a stay in September 2018

We really enjoyed this house -- from the beautiful ocean views to the comfy beds and bedding. All in our party thought that this house was unusually warm and inviting. The winds were fierce during the night, but this is one solid house and we had no worries. Our hostess Germaine was delightful and told us a lot of what it was and is like living in the area. Of course Cape Breton is magnificent! This house is very close to Cheticamp where there are plenty of dining options.

“A Grand Experience!”
Reviewed June 27, 2018 for a stay in June 2018

This house provided four friends with everything we needed and more for a week of unexpected, grand experiences! The views, sunsets, and location were perfect, but even better was our immersion in the Acadian culture thanks to owner Russ, and his awesome Uncle Roland and very generous Aunt Germaine! Cheticamp is a lovely town with friendly people who welcome their visiting guests with genuine kindness. It’s a beautiful place with beautiful people! We were there a week before the summer season, so we didn’t encounter any traffic or crowds. Every morning you can watch the lobster boats on the water and listen to the quiet beauty around you! At night, the starry sky will amaze you!

“Could not have been much better”
Reviewed October 25, 2016 for a stay in October 2016

I traveled with my spouse and another couple to celebrate each of our milestone wedding anniversaries. We had never been to the area previously so did not know what to expect. The rental was clean, spacious and well appointed. The view was spectacular and the location could not have been better.

This is a somewhat remote part of Cape Breton but is near the Highland Provincial Park and the Cabot trail. It is also close enough (less than 10 minutes) to a reasonable size town with decent dining choices, some shopping and other attractions. We were there just after the Celtic Colours annual celebration which marked the end of the season for all intents and purposes. This limited some of what was available but given the purpose of our trip there was enough to see and do that our time was relaxing and a great escape. We caught some local live music which only added to the pleasure and spent considerable time photographing the fall colors that had not quite reached their peak.

Russel was a gracious and helpful host and obviously wanted our stay to be wonderful which it was. Germaine who handles things for Russell was nearby and she and her husband did check on us to ensure that all was in order.

“Beautiful home and location!”

It's a beautiful home in a gorgeous location. Stay nearby and enjoy great walks right from the house or take short trips to hikes in the nearby national park. Provides opportunity for both excellent outdoor activities and relaxation.

Nearby Cheticamp has good food stores and the kitchen is fully equipped with all that you need to prepare wonderful meals while enjoying a magnificent view. Good restaurants are nearby, too for when you'd rather have someone else do the cooking.

Couldn't ask for more.

“Great house and location with the best sunsets ever.”

What a great place to stay. If you want peace and quiet, this is it, but close enough to pretty much anything you want to do. Clean and spacious, with many beautiful examples of local arts and crafts. Great views of Cheticamp and Cheticamp Island and unbelievable sunsets. We did a lot of traveling around the island from here, but I could easily spend a week right in this area. I would say the best thing we did all week was http://www.birdisland.net/ and the best meal and entertainment was at http://www.redshoepub.com/. LOVED Cape Breton and can't wait to go back. Don't miss a whale watch with http://www.whalecruisers.com/. Lots of great trails in the park. Go see Meat Cove and Cabot's Landing too. I would definitely recommend this rental. It is well kept by the owner's cousin Germaine. She was very helpful and informative, but never intrusive. In short. Go, and rent this house.
