“Great!”
Reviewed January 10, 2014

This place was a great surprise. Very comfortable and clean. Nicely decorated and with all the comforts you can expect from a self catering lodge. Shame that we couldn't use the hot tub since it was always very cold. Will definitively stay there again and highly recommend.

Thank you for your review and kind comments; I think you mean the weather was cold, not the Hot-Tub!, which was definitely at the correct temperature for the duration of your stay.

A great location to get to York or Leeds within half an hour. We never tried the local pub (never had time) but it looked lovely. Accomodation was exceptional, clean, tidy, bedlinen, towels, everything except some washing power for the washing machine and that is the only thing we could find wrong with the whole place.
Greeting and welcome and explanation of everything in the lodge plus the hottub were great.
We were not bothered at any point by other guests.
Far too cold to use the hot tub but that's not their fault!
Wonderful 10 days and we would definately stay again.

Just returned from Wighill manor lodges after a 4 night stay! We stayed in a 'Hawthorne' lodge which was lovely!
Upon arrival we was greeted by Mel the owner who showed us what to do with the hot tub and other things in the lodge! We were a family of 4 with a 4 year old and a baby! As we entered the lodge we were pleasantly surprised on how much nicer the lodge was as the photos don't do it justice! Our lodge was two bed roomed and the twin room had enough space to put up our travel cot between the beds! Mel had supplied us with nice touches like fresh milk , tea, coffee and other things like a full tub of dishwasher tablets which was really handy to have as most places only supply you with 1 or 2!
We have stayed in lots of self catering accommodation and I would say this is up there with the best as every need was catered for, even down to an extremely detailed instruction manual for every appliance!
I would definitely return and the lodge was spotless ! There was a pub called 'The White Swan' which was 5 mins walking distance away ! We took our little girl to a halloween party there and had a meal too which was lovely! Local people there were very welcoming!
All round a fantastic family break and wish we were still there!

Had an excellent weekend with the family at Wighill. Couldn't fault a think. Excellent location, only 5 lodges so very quiet and relaxing. Hot tub great. Lodge was superb, great look and feel, furnishings brilliant, en suite and bathroom spot on. Felt like a real luxury lodge and was surprised to find out the lodges were 3 years old. They looked brand new. Pub 5 minutes walk, sainsburys 2 minute drive away in Tadcaster and York only a short drive away. Highly recommended, you won't be disappointed

My wife and I booked Wighill Manor Lodges for our 4th wedding anniversary. This is the 3rd lodge we have stayed in which we have booked via Hoseasons and we were not disappointed. We normally book from the Hoseasons Autograph range which are said to be of a higher standard but Wighill Hill certainly matched our previous lodge visits and currently is not in the Autograph range. Upon arrival we were greeted with a smile and warm welcome, given our keys and directions to our lodge. We booked the Willow Lodge and even though it is only a 1 bedroom it is very spacious and has a high standard of fixtures and fittings. The owners of the lodge had left biscuits, fresh milk and tea and coffee which was a lovely touch. There was also washing up liquid, tea towels and cloths which was handy as some lodges you have to take all that with you. The lodge has everything you need from TV DVD player to built in music system which you can connect your smart phone too. The rooms are of a good size with the bathroom benefitting from a large gorgeous bath and a separate walk in shower. The lodge has a sunken hot tub on the verandah perfect for soaking in after a busy day out and about watching the sunset. Location wise you've got everything close by, York, Harrogate, Knaresbrough, Ripon and Leeds all within a comfortable travelling distance. The village of Wighill is a 5 minute walk from the lodge with the White Swan pub a nice place to enjoy a local beer or meal. Overall we had a great time at Wighill would most definitely recommend it and we are looking forward to arranging our next visit.
