We have been a few times to the Rythre arms which was first introduced to us by friends when we lived down there. Now we love in Durham it makes it a little more difficult to go but we still go down for special occasions. Everything about this place makes the all round journey of 160 miles well worth it. It's a tiny little what looks like a local pub in a small village in the sticks but it should be on everyone's front door. Firstly the food is astounding, first impressions are a it's a little pricey when looking at the menu but when you actually realise the size and quality of your food that comes out you really wonder how they're able to still make a profit with those prices. We've never had a bad meal yet, and the tbones are amazing. The service is always astounding. We follow the owner on twitter who is frequently advertising new deals and if you let him know you're coming he personally makes you welcome and sure you're looked after. You honestly feel like you're getting VIP treatment. The only real downsides to this place, which aren't really downsides, are its location, the bar can feel a bit dingy (but that's just most places in the Yorkshire sticks I think) and I've never been when its quiet. You always to have to book, sometimes weeks in advance for festive periods, otherwise you're just not getting served as it just gets so busy for such a small place. I've been on a Monday night in the middle of January and its still been heaving. Because its so out the way and small, it's such a shame this place doesn't have more of a national reputation as it really is utterly fantastic!!!
