We stayed at the Plough and Harrow for one night while travelling in Wales. The location is pleasant in the heart of Welsh country with Brecon a short drive away. The owners were particularly friendly an welcoming and our room was clean and comfortable with tea/coffee, water etc. We had our evening meal there, Welsh lamb steaks, which was very good home cooking, if a little expensive. After our meal the owners said that no one was using the suite so if we wanted we could use the suite sitting room to read or watch TV etc. A very nice friendly touch. (The small TV in our room was perched on top of the wardrobe which would have been annoying for more than one night - for little cost this could be improved) The hotel is basically a good B&B pub and for stays of more than one night we would recommend booking the suite which would make an extended stay very comfortable and reasonably priced (£10 more than a standard room). Breakfast in the morning was very good particularly the scrambled egg. We would certainly stay there again.

Room Tip: Book the suite for longer stays.

great hosts who are verry helpful and go out of there way to make their guests welcome, also more than happy to cater for special diets. there is free parking which i can imagine is sometimes limited.

We booked this place the night before our stay, as we were planning on camping but got rained off. The bedroom was very clean and tidy, although we were disappointed with a few things, such as no soap to wash our hands in the bathroom! At £60 per night, we would have expected shampoo, shower gel etc etc as well - not just the basic soap to wash your hands with!

The bed was comfortable to sleep in. Our room had finishing touches like coffee and tea ( but didnt make up for the lack of bathroom goodies in my opinion!!). The small portable TV was connected up to freeview box, although the signal was bad and made watching telly a bit hard. Comes with being in rural Wales I guess!

Breakfast was ok, they had a selection of cereals and yogurt to choose from, and also offered a cooked breakfast (bacon, sausage, eggs, mushrooms). Was cooked nicely and brought to our table promptly. the evening menu looked reasonably priced and a good selection, although we didnt eat there in the evening.

The website indicated that the house had free wi-fi access, however this is not the case. Our laptop showed the connection named as 'plough and harrow'. When I asked about the internet I was told that someone had used up all there download limit in the past, and so they had decided not to let guests use it from then on. A bit of a pain for us really, we probably wouldnt have booked this guest house if we knew there was no internet.

All in all, the place was comfortable and clean, but I don't think it was worth the money we paid compared to other guest houses I have stayed in.
