“Something special!”
Reviewed September 28, 2012

We have just returned from a 3 night stay and couldn't fault any aspect of Peterstone Court. The staff were all excellent, they couldn't do enough to help, were, friendly and efficient.
The food was absolutely delicious. We sampled lots off the menu and enjoyed and appreciated the skill and expertise needed to create it. Everything was homemade and locally sourced even down to the marmalade and honey!!
The spa is a great facility too. Sadly the only thing we could fault was the weather!!!!!
You will not be disappointed.

Room Tip: The rooms are all individually furnished and are very comfortable

Travellers, Business people, Locals and those changing status from engaged to Married this is a wonderful hotel for a stay.
I work for a large company and fall into the Business bracket so have to write this review based on that. The Peterstone Court is aptly named a Country House with rooms but it is so much more. The layout consists of large internal rooms, duplex stable rooms and a cottage all of which are kept in great condition.
Facilities on ground level include Quite room ( Library ), Bar, function room and restaurant and gardens, not forgetting outdoor swimming pool. Lower ground floor houses a wonderful Spa with a Jacuzzi and a gym.
The parking on arrival is easy and on entry through the big red door you are greeted by anyone of the professional staff who not only give you their undivided attention but swiftly check you in and show you to your room,
The rooms are all different in design but aimed quite successfully at the Country home feeling and not only are they cleaned immaculacy they have comfy / clean bedding (which is maintained daily) and good facilities internally like TV, DVD, office desk, kettle and refreshments. The bathrooms don’t come up short either being stocked with samples from the Spa and having a house coat and slippers for each guest. Each room has more than adequate storage for your clothing and the Hotel offer a laundry service with a snappy turnaround should you require it. The Stable room suffer somewhat with WIFI signal which is the only fault I could mention.
The food is of a high standard and well presented with locally sourced ingredients and good value for money. I recommend that if you’re a late starter in the mornings you make the effort to get breakfast as it’s superb.
Staff in this Hotel are excellent to say the least; they are well rehearsed in all manors of customer service and can make your stay feel special. Other local venues could learn from this team.
The hotel is easily accessed from the main road and if you fancy a walk or run this can be achieved simply by walking down the garden and following the footpaths in either direction which all link up with the canal.
In summary this is a great hotel in a beautiful location with brilliant staff and not to be missed !

Room Tip: WifI is good internally !

Recently booked a spa day for our first visit to Peterstone Court. The staff and treatments were great and reasonably priced. However, the spa is in need of updating and tidying up - it appears tired and and feels a little like a trip back to the 1970's! The outdoor pool is nice but on the day of our visit was too cold to get in despite it being heated (there had been a problem overnight and it could not heat up enough during the day to compensate). As we had been looking forward to a couple of good swims, I requested some form of compensation and was reluctantly offered £5 discount each - not really adequate and has prevented us from returning. The pool area also needs to be attended to more thoroughly in the mornings as there were cigarette ends (amongst other things!) around the seating area which you do not expect at a spa hotel. I would visit again just for treatments as these are very well priced and the staff are good, but not for a spa day as too much let it down.

Took My 83 Yr old American Stepmother here for her birthday and she absolutely loved it. The High Tea was delicious and very filling. The waiter was very friendly and courteous even though we were 15 minutes late. We sat outside later for a drink and the view was lovely - very peacfull and tranquil with a pretty fountain in the Court Yard. She is now going to bring her Son and Daughter in law here next time they come over from the States

I will start with the good things about the hotel -

- beautiful surroundings
- comfy bed
- tasty food

Now the not so good -

- poor customer service, waited far to long at the bar to be served and staff, including senior staff not really bothered about you!
- very noisy early hours of the morning, with staff clearing away.
- not disable friendly - at all!
- dogs allowed EVERYWHERE
- bad smell at times

This is NOT a 5 star hotel! Great pitty as location means this place could be amazing!

We stayed at Peterstone for a family birthday, we were are large group of mixed ages, it was a very suitable venue with something for everyone.
The food is outstanding and great value for money we were treated to a 3 course meal each evening and breakfast was a great selection with the 'Full Welsh' setting you up for the day.
We had a room in the old stables which was spacious with a very comfy bed. I think others have said the walls between the rooms are a bit thin so you're aware of the other occupants but no more than any hotel room.
Our group had a selection of rooms and all said they were very comfortable. We thought it was rather refreshing that it was homely rather than boutique as we could relax and not worry too much about putting things out of place. Some of the decor is a bit dated 80's gold taps etc but the atmosphere and welcome detracts from that.
Lovely grounds and walks from the house a very relaxing place to base yourself for a holiday in Brecon.
I was conscious that the few other guests must have felt we were an intrusion but noticed that they were carefully accomodated to take account of us.
On the day we left a wedding was in preparation and the staff were attentive to both our party leaving and the bustle and excitement of the wedding party. The stairs dressed in lilies looked stunning.
After an epic trek up the beacons I had a hotstone back massage in the spa and a cheeky snooze in the delightful Morrocan relaxation room. The spa is in the cellar with amazing vaulted ceilings.
After supper we played games and relaxed in the library which was very like being at home except a magician clears away the glasses and plumps the cushions overnight!
So a fantastic location for a house party but equally lovely as a couple or for families. Oh and looked amazing for a wedding too!

Well done to the team, thank you for a lovely break
