“A place of tranquility”
Reviewed April 20, 2014

This was our first visit and what a welcome surprise awaited us. The gardens are mostly informal, which suited us well, as it is a place to be quiet and enjoy, rather than having to rush around formal route marked pathways. The spring flowers in their meadow like setting were glorious, as was the wealth of shade loving plants in their subtle dappled hues. We left the modern water garden until the end, as we were unsure whether we would appreciate it as much, but sitting at the back on a comfortable bench gazing at the fountain was extremely relaxing, as we gazed at the birds flying in to drink.
The tearoom is self service, with an honesty box, - so unusual these days to be trusted. The cakes were very tasty and drinks refreshing. We bought a couple of plants on our way out, from the healthy looking stock in the nursery.
The proprietor was very friendly and informative, ensuring that we will come again soon.

“Stillingfleet Lodge Gardens”

Enjoyed our visit. Spent most of the time sitting in the sunshine as you could get round the gardens in half an hour. Visit was free with RHS card but would have been overpriced at £5. Plants very expensive. Hard to find because the signs change the name of the gardens as you get closer and the final sign said closed when it was in fact open.

We are delighted to welcome RHS members free to the garden on Wednesday afternoon, for which we receive no recompense. Directions to help members find us are in the handbook and on our website. I am obviously sad that you did not feel others would find us interesting and good value.

“A most beautiful and varied garden. ”
Reviewed April 16, 2014 via mobile

There are fewer places better on a sunny day (or any day for that matter). Sitting surrounded by wonderful plants is my version of heaven.
Different garden rooms for all tastes are enough to keep everybody entranced.
I have visited before and shall do again as frequently as possible.

“A lovely spring day”

Beautiful as ever. Always something different to see. Daffs and fritillaries today but with the promise of camassias on the way. Well worth the £5 to come on.

“A haven of tranquillity.”
Reviewed September 8, 2013

We visited these gardens having purchased a Groupon deal, prior to that I had not heard of this hidden gem. I visited with my 80 yr old father and 11 year old daughters and we all thoroughly enjoyed the visit. We picniced at the benches in the grassy car park and ventured in just after 1 pm . We were warmly welcomed and the fresh eggs I bought on arrival were put to one side for me to pick up on leaving. We meandered through the gardens at a leisurely pace and though my father is a little unsteady on his feet he managed the unmade path ways without difficulty. The girls loved the hens and chicks which were all around the gardens and spotted the different varieties using the guide we'd been given. I loved the way the different gardens lead seamlessly into each other and each area had its own character.Wildlife was there in abundance ,enjoying this peaceful haven too. The cakes were delightful and there were plenty of benches/ chairs throughout the gardens where you could sit to enjoy the refreshments.
