No more driving passed the brown sign on the A19 on the way to York - a visit to these gardens is a must! The most beautiful 'cottage' gardens ever! Small, intimate, quaint, olde worlde English charm. An idyllic place to take a stroll and afternoon tea - excellent cakes! Home made produce for sale. When you admire a plant in the garden you will be able to purchase one on the way out.
Constantly changing scenery according to climate and season. We visited on Wildlife Day, that was a bonus - not least because of the home-made pizzas out of a wood-burner stove from the mobile pizza maker - truly delicious!! Will visit again and again and recommend to all and sundry!
Well impressed!

Each of its six gardens has a different charm, with the added bonus of chickens! Also, lots of very healthy plants to buy. Good cup of tea and slice of cake to round off the visit.

truly beautiful, a real garden, like gardens were 40 yrs ago. there to be enjoyed by people and nature. And a great place for plantaholics as the plant stalls were big, and lots of unusual plants. Can`t wait to visit again,. as gardens forever evolve.

We visited this garden on the 'wildlife day' and it was a true inspiration of what can be achieved with nature in mind. The owner and all who helped were very knowledgeable and friendly. The planting around the pond was very impressive and the pond was brimming with wildlife. We followed the paths to the secret gardens and paused for a while in the Pear Tree Garden to take stock of all the planting. The cafe had great cakes and local ice cream with beautiful roses growing over the door as you entered the cafe. Finally, we visitied the nursery which sold fantastic plants at a reasonable price. This garden is well worth a visit as it is such a unique garden with natural beauty!!

Visited this garden at the end of our holiday in Yorkshire with 30 gardening club friends. It is a delight. One can ramble around the gardens, which are amazing and bursting with beautiful flowers, scrubs and trees. I sat by the pond in complete solitude and listened to the bird song. There are also chickens which keep all the pests down as in this garden no chemicals are used. There is a small café with a courtyard surrounded by flowers which sells drinks and mouth watering homemade cakes. The owner is very knowledgeable and ready to give advice. There are also many plants found in the garden for sale at reasonable prices. If you are visiting Yorkshire this garden is well worth a visit.
