We have just returned from a 3 night stay at the Beechwood Close where we had an amazing holiday. The hotel is ideally situated, only a 15 minute walk into the centre of York and close to a leisure park, a children's park and the bus route.

The hotel is owned and run by Claire and her family and they provide a wonderfully kind, comfortable and homely environment to stay in. Our children (age 4 and 7) were free to wander where they wanted, exploring the hotel and treating it like a home from home (pink furry slippers to breakfast!).

Our family room was huge and very well equipped and the beds were as comfortable as any I've slept in in any hotel anywhere in the world.

Breakfast was terrific, accurately described as 'luxury breakfast' by our oldest daughter. We also dined in the hotel and the food was excellent and very reasonably priced.

We enjoyed our stay at the Beechwood Close so much that we've already booked a return stay for October. If we didn't already have committed summer holiday plans then we'd be back even sooner.

We can't wait see to Claire, Peter and everyone else again who who made our stay so wonderful. 8 months and counting!

Chris, Laura, Madeline and Emelia.

Room Tip: Family room was excellent.

My wife and I were visiting York for the first time together. We had a warm welcome when we first arrived at the hotel on the Sunday. Our room was overlooking the rear garden, it was tastefully decorated with a huge comfortable bed and warm and inviting on a bitter March day. There was a carvery available for lunch which was very nice.

The hotel is a 15 - 20 minute walk away from the Minster. There is limited free parking available and we found the pay and display car parks in the Town Center were expensive so we chose to use the "Park and Ride" bus service which we found very useful.

Breakfast was first class and we were waited on by professional attentive staff. After a very long day site seeing on the Monday we enjoyed a very nice 2 course evening meal with a good bottle of wine and spent the evening chatting in the lounge.

We would not hesitate to book another stay at this hotel again. Thank you Peter and Co for making our stay in York such a good one.

What a perfect hotel for visiting York ;)

Myself and my two friends were visiting York for the weekend as a special treat and stayed in the two twin rooms at the top of the hotel. Initially we feared there may be too many stairs but it was perfect as we had our own floor and privacy. The rooms were spotlessly clean and the staff were so friendly that they couldn't do enough for you.

Although the hotel isn't in the centre it's only about a 5mins taxi drive away or 15mins walk so really accessible. A smaller more intimate hotel which is a much better option than the larger hotel chains where you are just considered another number. Great value for money and fab breakfasts too, I would certainly recommend this hotel to anyone that is looking to visit York as an ideal place to stay.

We have just spent on night at The Beechwood with our son.Our room was excellent, one double and two singles. The beds were extreamly comfortable. The room itself was nicely decorated and very clean. We spent the day in York, which was a 10 to 15 mins walk to the Minster. There is an excellent bus service if needed. On return to the hotel we decided to eat in the restaurant. We were seen to immediately by a very nice and attentive waitress. The food and wine were excellent. We were in bed fairly early, but considering we were above the bar,we were not disturbed.Breakfast was first class,as was the service.Overall we would stay here again,as they cater for a one night stay on the weekend.Cheers.

I took my husband here for his Birthday Meal. We found it very expensive, poor quality and small portions for prices. I ordered Coffee £2-20p for half a cup, I asked for a refill and when we got the bill had been charged for a second cup. Shall not be going again.

Booked in for two nights,Friday & Saturday for eight of us for a family weekend.Nothing was too much for the staff. We ate in both nights as well as staying for Mothers Day lunch on the Sunday.Food was first class at all times. Not too long a walk into town the only problem was the weather but even the staff as good as they were could do nothing about that.Would definately stay here again.
