I REGRET TAKING MY FAMILY TO CLUB MANILA EAST.
It was the day after Christmas 2011 when my two sisters and I were looking for a place near Manila to take our kids for an extended mini reunion, and we were attracted by nice pictures of Club Manila East on the Internet and its proximity to where we were staying at the time, so we ended up heading there right away.
We got a cabana worth Php 1500 on top of the individual admission fees, and have deposited Php 300 for a key so we can leave our stuff inside safely while we swim. Or so we thought. Even my being OC with regard to making sure that the door and windows were securely locked before we went out to swim was futile.
All went well until we found out that we could not go home because our car key was missing! We searched the whole cabana thinking it was just misplaced. We initially dismissed robbery when we learned that all our wallets were still in our bags and pockets.
However, upon further searching [I insisted that everyone look into their own wallet to check], we found out that some cash went missing. And only then did we notice that all the gadgets we had (PSP, DS Lite, Nook, iPod, etc.) were gone too!
The modus operandi was not to take all of the cash to make it appear that the wallets were untouched. Their objective presumably was for you to go home without noticing that you were robbed. Maybe you would discover that after you have left the Club's premises. (The missing key was probably accidental as it was in a pair of shorts that the robber also took to hide his loot.
We reported the incident but was taken by the Club with no alarm at all. No sense of professionalism was evident among the attending staff. They stood there in front of us just staring very helpless.
I asked to see the video records of their CCTV, but I was surprised to learn that there is not even a single camera in their premises that time. The so-called Customer Relations Officer came at around 7pm, but only helped facilitate the filing of the blotter report.
Sadly, until now, Club Manila East hasn't done anything about one complaint at all.
This season, they claimed they removed the locks to their cabanas and they lowered their fees for the huts as well. This decision of their management was driven by the noise we created. But is this enough to guarantee everyone a safe and sound stay in the Club?
Believe me, it's NOT worth going to Club Manila East.

We found out too late. :(
