Such beauty, if you want to experience fully the magic of this place, to relieve history I strongly suggest to sleepover few nights. Take a boat tour on river Neretva because the river and the town are like Jing and Jang, complementing each other to create Tolkien like fantasy story.

Hate to be rude to the people & history but we visited Pocitelj for a 15 min stop on a (12 hour) coach day trip from Dubrovnik to Mostar and the Kravica Wayerfalls.

It’s a few ruined towers ... some tourist shops and not much to see.

Highlight was buying superb fresh figs from a stall.

So my friends and I were staying in Mostar for eleven days and our guide recommended to visit Pocitelj. Since I'm in love with history and everything, I asked one local about the origins of the town and he told me that the town was bulit by Bosnian king Tvrtko in 14th century!! And I was like:'This town is six hundred years old?!' I was pleasently suprised with that information.

The town itself is extrodinary! The river is just next to it and you can visit the old tower, citadel, clock-towe, eat some good food and buy some souveniers.

I recommend visit to Pocitelj to everyone who's staying in Mostar (it's about half an hour driving south from Mostar and you can book a tour for a reasonable price)

We were suggested by a tour guide to stop here on way from Split to Mostar. The google map directions in the last 5km was rather odd as it took you down this single lane winding hillside road that reaches the entrance to the site. There's very limited parking here so pull ahead, merge onto the main road, and there's plenty of parking there.

As for the site, it's a great view though a little bit of a hike to get up there. A very narrow tower you can climb to get super pictures. The mosque was very special and they sell plenty of souvenirs there.

It is a very nice city made of stone where you should stop if you are in BiH. People there are very friendly. There is not much you can do except walking to the top.
