I recently stayed at Club La Santa with my children with the aim to reboot my fitness after the pandemic. It is full of intense type A personalities, if you are not an elite athlete I would give this place a miss! I was told off by a teenager for not following the rules of handball in a beginners class! The timing of the kid’s club is not aligned with the classes and if you are late for a class, even by a few minutes, you are not allowed to join. My child has mild special needs and every day at the kid’s club I was asked if they were violent! Not how can we help them to enjoy their time with us? So ignorant. I was also told each day that I could be turned away the next day by a different child carer based on a diagnosis, not their behaviour which is not at all challenging. The girls in the kid’s club sit and chat and pay little attention to your children, largely leaving them to entertain themselves with colouring. My child is also allergic to milk and there were few vegan alternatives. He practically lived off fruit and vegetables the entire week watching his siblings enjoy cake and ice cream. The location is remote and ugly and the weather is apparently worse on this side of the island compared to the south. The rooms are basic and the sofa bed is very uncomfortable to sleep on, especially if you are achey from working out. On the last day a huge group of teenagers arrived, I imagine with school, and ran riot through the hotel, making lots of noise and disturbing sleep. When I asked them to keep the noise down they threw fruit onto my balcony. Will not be going back.
That being said the local staff such as the reception, restaurant and cleaning team are lovely and friendly and the place was very clean and the food was nice and varied.
