Went here on 2.5.14 for 1 week with a group of friends. We each had varying levels of fitness, but the staff (Green Team) made sure that this did not stop us trying new sports. I had a go at over 20 during the week including Kayaking, Wind Surfing, Yoga, Pilates, two different styles of Zumba, Tai Chi, Aqua Aerobics and cycling to name a few. The instructors explained things very well and everyone was able to take part at their own pace. Most of the staff seem to talk at least two other languages other than English. The Irish chap in the cycling dept was very funny. N.B. You must turn up on time for the classes or your place will be passed onto someone on the waiting list. Prices include nearly all the classes, so good value for money.
There were some Olympic athletes and tri-athalon trainees using the facilities, so they must be good.
The restaurants on site provided a well balanced choice for all tastes and were reasonably priced. The paella and bbq nights at the pool bar were very enjoyable. Staff very friendly.
The spa was a real treat, although the treatments seem fairly limited and expensive.
One member of staff Ana even assisted us in our Pirate themed Hen party and organised a cake and silly hats and organised for the Disco bar to give us some sangria. The fellow guests at the Karaoke and Zumba night all joined in and made sure the Hen had a great night.
We opted to go on the Volcano trip. Ana gave a great commentary. Another trip to the local markets was equally enjoyable as was the haggling over prices. 2 leather belts for 5 Euros!
We didn't get to try the local restaurants in town, but the local bakers is amazing and very cheap.
The only minor negative was that our apartment could sleep up to 12, but the saucepans etc would only suit cooking in small quantities (I suppose this is to encourage you to use the restaurants on site) and there were only two kitchen knives, both of which were very blunt.
All in all a fabulous week, with great experiences + I lost weight! We're already planning a trip back.

Thanks for your review, it's really appreciated and it sounds like you had a great time and made the most of our facilities.

There may be a little confusion over the apartment occupancy however, as we don't offer any that can sleep 12 people (the maximum is 10 in our Sport 4 bedroom apartments).

If that is what you were informed it would be very helpful if you could let us know where you saw that information so that we can rectify it. Please email any further comments to: marketing@clublasanta.com

Once again, thank you for your feedback.

Low comfort but high in offered facilities. This complex is special for families that prefer an active sportive holiday than a relax luxuries vacation in a 5 star resort. This resort is only for real sportlovers... they have all they can dream off.

Room Tip: TWENTY STARS on Sports facilities....

As a runner and a bit of a cyclist i'd heard lots of things about how good Club La Santa was, I hadn't looked at any review websites and had the briefest of looks at their Website (which is a bit dated). That said I had an open mind and was looking forward to mixing a bit of cycling up with some socialising and cross training (having run a marathon 3 weeks ago and recently having a minor operation).

The good bits: The site is well laid out and has excellent sports facilities, it's geared-up for triathletes but the classes and training groups are open to all. The staff are friendly, professional and helpful. I left my phone in the cab which they happily made enquiries and had returned to me. In addition to this I was not rebuked or charged when I returned a mountain bike having broke the chain, in fact I was offered a replacement without asking (which I declined). Our room was cleaned regularly and the bike cleaning cloths were a nice touch.

The not so good bits: The room was very basic and dated, a radio or TV with a few music channels would've been nice. In fact there wasn't even a wall or radio alarm clock present. Also the safe had to be hired, which adds to the expense of the stay. That said when it became faulty the issue was dealt with promptly. On the subject of expense the on site shop is nothing short of extortionate, I appreciate the cost of imported goods to the Canaries but £5.50 for a packet of Cornflakes takes the mickey. Stick to the local produce which appeared fairly priced.
The poolside restaurant also put a fair dent in the pocket charging between £5-6 for a sandwich, up to £10 for a pizza and £6 for an Ice Cream!!! It was fresh and well made but again a bit pricey for a lunchtime snack. I found the buffet again overpriced (£15-18 exc drinks) and fairly average, to be fair the two more formal restaurants were excellent and oddly similarly priced.

The Bars were well staffed and stocked but again pricey (£8 for a G+T), the local beer being a better deal at £2 a bottle. I'm not a big drinker but after a big ride a few cold ones is nice.

Because the resort is fairly isolated they can clearly justify their prices as they have no real completion. If i'm really honest we found it a bit of a cash vortex and didn't represent great value for money. If you are a serious triathlete building-up to an event then I can see the attraction of Club La Santa, but as a resort for an active social holiday it didn't live up to the hype.

The Island is great for road cycling and mountain biking, if you are either of these or a runner save yourself some cash and stay elsewhere. We hired excellent road bikes from Puerta Del Carmen which were delivered and collected from us. You could easily base yourself there or at another resort and have more choice during the evenings, we are probably returning in January and will do exactly this.

Out of 10 I give the place 5. I wouldn't go back unless part of a large group to train for a specific event and even then i'd shop around for a deal.

It's good to hear that you enjoyed our sports facilities and that you received an efficient and friendly service.

It seems that you stayed in an apartment that has not been renovated yet, the most economical option, though rest assured we are renovating all of the rooms and we'll have completed this process by 2016. Our new Suites all have satellite television and soon all of the other apartments will have screens too.

Having considered youyr comments about prices, it does seem that there must be some mistake in your conversions, not only have you stated in British pounds instead of Euros, but your estimations are also much higher than reality. Just to give a few examples: a box of Cornflakes is currently €4.55 in the supermarket, a Gin & Tonic is €5.50 in any of our bars, and an ice cream cone is €1.80 at the Pool Bar (maybe you meant one of the Sundaes on the menu, which could be more expensive?).

Even so, these prices may be higher than you ar used to paying at home, we are on an island, wthin a holiday resort, and costs are also higher too. I do hope you understand, and we are sorry if your expectations were not met.

Thanks again for your positive feedback.

I visit CLS every year to relax and do some exercise. Every year I try the various food outlets across the complex in the hope of improvement. This year food and service worse than ever. The food in pool bar and 'steak & sushi' overpriced and inedible in places. The waiting staff poorly trained and uninterested. Separately, management have destroyed the sports cafe by moving it (if temporarily) to disco. No forethought, no effort. Do they care? I doubt it.

Thanks for your feedback and we' re sorry to hear your dissatisfaction with the food and service. We endeavour to try to deal with with such complaints, though we do ask that you do so at the time so that we can have the opportunity to solve the issue. On your next visit, please don't hesitate to raise your hand immediately so that we can take action.

Also, we do apologize for the inconvenience for the temporary closure of the Sports Cafe, though you are probably aware, we are gradually renovating all of the apartments, and we have to close it for the moment as a safety measure as there is work going on directly above and alongside it.

This situation won't last long, and the hotel and guests will benefit as a result.

We hope to see you again in the near future.

I go to a tri training camp at La Santa every year. This year, they just opened not one but 2 new Olympic size pool, new dance studio, new cafe, new golf driving range / putting thing... You can book the new apartments which is so much nicer than the old ones. The new bike centre offers state of the art bike fitting service half the price of ones in London.
I've always liked La Santa, but now its refurbished, it's even better!

Room Tip: book a "comfort apartment" which means its a refurbished one
