Why anyone would go another hour down the track to darwin Daly i do not know when everything you could want froma camp site / holiday spot is right here an hour and half from Darwin. We had a fantastic time with our family and some friends and their kids. We stayed in the Billabong House which was big enough for all of us to have space and had a fantastic large kitchen with all the things you need. The highlight was the minature pony and her calf wandering around all day and coming right up to the door for a pet. there is an amazing array of wildilfe to see and touch from peacocks to the Bull (Nigel). COnfortable beds although the rooms were a little dirty, but not so much that it bothered us. it would just make it an excellent saty if it was really clean. they have horse riding from kids to experienced riders and a swimming pool to cool off in. All in all a lovely long weekend and jus down the road.

Hi all,
Well we have only just returned back from yet another fabulous time had by all out at Mt Bundy Station - absolutely the "place to be in the Territory" and one of my families favourite places in the world to pull up and get some rest and recreation with Sue, Scott and Casey at their picturesque slice of heaven on earth called Mt Bundy Station.
The scenery is definitely breath taking from horse trek rides to the top of the hill which overlooks the some of the station, to magnificent sunsets and the odd lightning show in the sky behind the hill which looks like a remake or replay of the old world war 2 bombings in action - of which this property has a great history.
So many things to do for the children from feeding Guinea fowl, Ibis and Peacocks, to tree climbing, bird watching, sneaking up on wallabies at dawn and dusk when they come out - then there is the favorite of all feeding the horses handfuls of grass and remembering their names and learning from Sue as she teaches them some of the basic skills of horse riding on the 'hand led children's horse rides'. Sue has about 45 years experience with horses and it definitely shows she has broken in her own horses and what beautiful horses they are from gorgeous Dunn's, Taffy's, Chestnut's an Appaloosa the list goes on and on, not to mention the tiny miniature called 'Meme' who enjoys a splash down with water during the day as she is in foal and gets hot and lets everybody know about it!
The horse I was on for my horse trek was amazing he was able to go from a walk into a gentle canter without missing a beat on voice command ( a special kissing sort of noise) and by holding the reigns forward at the same time, which is a accolade to Sues training of him.
The accommodation is pleasant the Cooks Cottage is one of our favorites as it is completely self contained with a 6 seater dining table and a large area just around the cottage for the children to play as well as the pool being only a hop, skip & jump away with some visabilty from the deck.
There are also heaps of options for accommodation - one being for groups or for family's and friends to stay together at the "Old Homestead" which looks over one of the beatuful billabongs teaming with water lilies (which are just starting to open now) and amazing bird life, the "Old Homestead" has facilities for up to 20 people, we have stayed in this accomodation also and the kitchen is awesome with evrything being large and stainless with a huge stainless steel kitchen island which brings on all sorts of inspiration - like baking home made cookies with the kids which we never get time for at home.
So there there it is - for a place to get away from it all and just breath and be, our family gives Mt Bundy a 10 out of 10 and as we drive out past the beautiful Brolga birds hiding under a large tree it is always with a sense of sadness that we leave Mt Bundy Station.
But with a knowing that "We will be back!"

We just spent Australia Day weekend at this peaceful property in the Cooks Cottage - what a beauty! The Cooks Cottage is fully self contained and has everything you need to enjoy a relaxing stay all we took was food, alcohol & our Aussie flag. The grounds are picturesque with a lovely pool to cool iff in. We enjoyed a flick in the Adelaide River which runs through the property and did some nice strolls around the grounds. There is an abundance of wildlife. We did a day trip out to the Daly River which included fishing and some beverages at the Daly River Pub and stopped off at Robin Falls for a refreshing swim. I am looking forward to taking my parents their in the Dry Season. I would reccomend this spot to anyone from couples to families. Thanks to the hosts of Mount Bundy for making our stay pleasurable.

It’s hard to put my finger on exactly why, but my fiancé and I fell madly in love with this place as soon as we arrived. It’s an incredibly relaxing place, with a nice little pool, plenty of wallabies and water buffaloes and cows and horses, some short walking trails along the Adelaide River, and a small billabong with freshwater crocs. As soon as we arrived, any desire to hurry immediately drained out of us. It’s a special little place.

We stayed in the Stockman’s Quarters, which has shared bathrooms and kitchen. Everything is pretty clean, and our bed was shockingly comfortable. It’s not exactly the Ritz Carlton—and I have a feeling that the small shared bathrooms would be woefully inadequate if all of the beds were filled up—but the place is charming as hell, and definitely worth a stop.

Just spent 2 amazing days at Mt Bundy Station. The warm friendly greeting by Scott made us feel right at home. Sue made an incredibly scrumptious dinner which we devoured outside under the stars near a massive mango tree. The 4WD was a thrill showcasing spectacular scenery and the dawn Horse ride to the Racecoarse Billibong was an experience I'll cherish. Thanks to Sue, Scott, Bec and Kayla for a memorable stay. Gary.

At a time when hotel prices are ridiculous in Darwin Mt Bundy is a great relief. The Stockman Quarters were great value for money. The location an easy stop off en route between Darwin and Katherine. The grounds wonderful. The staff helpful. It's not the Ritz but it's truly Australian! So stop and stay!

This is an ideal place to stop after you have picked a camper van in Darwin. We picked up our 4WD Camper and headed out of the city to Palmerston where we hit the big Coles supermarket to get stocked up. A further hour down the road in Mnt Bundy Station where we received a very warm welcome.
It is a very relaxed site - lots of wood to make camp fires if you wish and lots of room down in the unpowered field to have a great time. Although we didn't do any of their activities they offer a station tour, fishing, riding and a history tour down into Adelaide River.
The facilities are very clean and the showers work really well - so what more could you want - it was a brilliant start to our trip.
