I have read through all the reveiws and will find it impossible to comment without repeating what others have written. My wife and I were three weeks into one of our big life long ambitions, driving from the east coast to the west coast right across the states an ambition of some thirty years. During my research I found a guy who had written a book about his trip across which he had done 15 years ago, and he had stayed at The Alder Inn, so we decided to to search out this place and possible stay there too. I'm so pleased we did, we were greated by Chad & Layni as if we were there long lost uncle and aunt, they could not do enough for us, we were given the choice of which room we wanted, after being shown a number of them, all of them were super, beautiful and clean very well furnished and a real taste of homeliness. Chad & Layni were the perfect hosts checking that we were okay asking if there was anything we wanted offered to help take our luggage from the car to the room etc. They gave us a better service and more attention than I have received in some 4 and 5 star blue chip hotels which have charged large fees compaired with The Alder Inn.
I would like to wish both of them and there family every sucess as they are working dam hard to achive their dreams. Good luck to them. Chad was well impressed that their Motel had been mentioned in a book, U.S. 50 by Wolf Berg.
As for us we are doing fine and had a wonderful Vacation & still talking about you.

Chad and Laney are incredible hosts! We were greeted with a warm smile and detailed overview of the area including some of the local gems( local's beaches and restaurants spots). They helped us to fill out our itinerary for our 4 day stay.

Chad and Laney have pesonally decorated "updated" each of the 20 or so rooms at the Inn making the experience memorable. The rooms are good sized, very comfortable with new beds, couches, and, linens. Each room has a refrigerator, TV (cable), hair dryer, and coffee maker.

The Inn has a nice pool and hot tub, Coin Washer/Dryer facility, and Fire Pit. Don't miss the hot tub and fire pit experience. They also have a fleet of bicycles for guests to cruise around town (request the orange and green ones).

The Inn is located 2 blocks from Lake Tahoe, minutes from from Heavenly (on the shuttle route), and minutes from the casinos. Also, it is walking distance to many great restaurants... Scusa (Italian), Red Hut (Breakfast - get the waffles), Sprouts (Healthy Breakfast/Lunch - Very Tasty).

If you are looking for an Inn that cares about your happiness and satisfaction and that makes sure you have a memorable and enjoyable experience then you will not be dissapointed at Alder Inn. We checked in as strangers and left as friends!!! We will definitley be back.

Husband and I stayed at the Alder Inn for four nights over Labor Day weekend. The location is great, right on Ski Run Blvd and a few blocks to the lake. Very central to anything you would want to see or do. This was our first trip to Lake Tahoe and we were very happy with our choice to stay at the Alder Inn. The rates are incredibly reasonable, the new owners are friendly and hospitable. The owners just purchased and started renovating earlier this year and we could tell they've put a lot of money into the place, the pool and hot-tub are brand new and beautiful. The rooms are updated and beautifully decorated, although there are some areas where we felt they could improve (and we're sure they plan to in the future) - the bathrooms are still outdated, the shower head was really low and we had to stoop to get under the water. The beds are very comfortable, but the pillows weren't. The curtains were really thin and the outside lighting was pouring in, so we had to use the blanket to cover the window so we could sleep. These are MINOR complaints, but explain why I couldn't give the place a 5 as much as I would have liked to. For the price, location and hospitality, we are very happy we stayed here and would definitely stay again.

My wife and I have been staying at the Alder Inn for several years, always enjoying the quiet and strategic location. The new owners, a delightful family from the vast plains of Texas, have made this their home and treat their guests accordingly. They have refurbished all the rooms, and have put their hearts and souls into making this Inn a place where you will love to relax. We love this place.
