The rooms were spacious, well-appointed and had everything we needed - microwave, mini fridge and coffee maker. Loved being able to walk to the lake and the restaurants. Free shuttle to Cal Lodge and Gondola bases. We did not have a car and it was all good. The hot tub was great after a long day on the slopes. The owners are awesome and super nice.

Room tip: We stayed upstairs in Room 4 and found it to be quiet.

We stayed there for a long weekend recently. Besides being clean and updated (for a motel), the owners The Wharry's, who live on the property, were great folks. This is a motel 5 minutes from the California Lodge at Heavenly Ski Resort. It is walking distance to a number of good restaurants and less than 10 minutes on foot from the lake. It has a great hot tub for after skiing. I would highly recommend it.

Room tip: It is a two story motel. Place was pretty quiet, but I could see avoiding the pool / hot tub area if you really wanted quiet.

The inn is well located and I found it very nice. The room is well equipped and very well prepared. The receptionist was wery nice and provide all necessary information. I suggest Alder Inn either for a short stay as well as for a long one.

We stayed for 2 nights in September. The rooms are really warm, cosy, modern, clean and good amenities. Good location to get around and staff were really friendly. Would recommend and certainly stay again

We loved our second-floor room (#11) because it looked out onto Ski Run Blvd (one of the main arteries of town) and the Inn's hot tub. It felt very private! And parking was plentiful. You can tell that the property used to be a motel (in its layout), but it's been renovated very nicely and modernly and the rooms have cute decorative touches that follow a skiing motif (maybe it's different in summer, but we stayed here during ski season...). Check in and check out could not be smoother, and the guy who checked us in was super friendly and recommended some good restaurants in walking distance (Red Hut we loved, Chimayo was decent but took a little too long for the food to come).

We could not have asked for a better location to access skiing! We took the free Tahoe shuttle to Heavenly's California Lodge and found it to be convenient and a good experience too. Note that it leaves its station on the half hour, so it will be a few more minutes before it gets to the Alder / Ski Run intersection stop.

Room tip: We liked the second floor, and loved our room #11, facing the hot tub.
