Great little "hole in the wall' pub/restaurant. More of a fresh local food restaurant than a German place. We had the camel burgers (game burger of the day). They were excellent. Very good selection of German beer.

This place only sells beer and wine, no full bar. The beers are all German or Belgian and pretty strong. We enjoyed what we had.

We didn't want much food but their small plates were not small. I had the Bratwurst and Spiezel which was very good but way too much. My husband had the Moules which was also huge and had so much juice the fries were completely soggy. It was a very strange combination of ingredients (steamed in beer, leeks, bacon, sun-dried tomatoes and blue cheese). It was ok but nothing that we would want to repeat.

The staff were great and the atmosphere was good but unless you want to hang out with all the boarding dudes and get wasted you may want to find somewhere else.

Always enjoy going to the Himmel Haus. Very good selection of German beers in bottle and on draft. Food is on the gourmet side and very tasty. Himmel Haus, burger is great as are the schnitzels. Very good homemade pretzel bread. Go during happy hour 4-6pm, $2 off all beers.

I have never been to Germany, so I can't say if its really authentic or not. That said, this is really good food. The curry bratwurst is awesome, and they have a lot of seasonal beers, so sometimes they run out, but there are plenty more to choose from. This is a great place to hang out with a big crowd. The staff is really friendly and knowledgable about the beer.

"Bavarian Nouveau" is the best description I can state about one of my now favorite restaurants in South Lake Tahoe. The owner, Zak, and his professional and well-educated team at the Himmel Haus are there to serve!

The menu is simple, yet creative, rotating seasonally, incorporating local and sustainably grown and harvested meats and vegetables. Consistently tasty and varietal. Always impressive.

The ambience of the Stube (bar) is friendly and welcoming. I love das Bier, especially when served in the proper vessel - my wife just commented that they actually serve it nicely chilled, which for her is a huge plus - which includes the Rastal Mass one liter mugs, the two liter boot, for fun and games, especially for our monthly German Stammtisch gatherings, or our recent company Christmas dinner, and then they have the three liter glass for the serious Saufer. The draft tower is impressive, most often representing at least three of Bavaria's premier breweries, including Helles, Weizen, Maerzen and Bock offerings. The bottled selection takes the offerings to the next level, with craft Belgian ales, barley wines, and many rare German bottled delights. The wine offerings are good.

Fun is the theme here, with movie nights and live music throughout the week. The Himmel Haus is especially gratifying, following a ski day, hike or bike ride. These guys are into it and, as a small town, small business, deserve your patronage and support! Who knows, if all keeps blossoming here, that Biergarten that Zak pines for may be a reality summer, 2013...
