3 Peaks Resort & Beach Club
Ranked #20 of 65 Hotels in South Lake Tahoe
Reviewed April 4, 2009

My work had a company weekend retreat and sent us all to Lake Tahoe. (Do you feel sorry for us? ha ha!) They booked us all at the 3 Peaks Resort and it couldn't have been better.
We skied all day and in the evening we had our own little party with cocktails and a BBQ in the picnic area of the hotel. This hotel was the perfect setting for us. In fact, we invited a few other people that happened to be staying at the hotel to join us for our bbq.
I had never heard of this hotel and after staying there, I will be certain to return.
Great rooms. Great location.

My wife and I were looking for a good place to stay for one night in the Lake Tahoe area. Since TripAdvisor highlighted this hotel as a Top Value and the recent reviews were very positive, we decided to stay here.

When we saw the well-decorated, modern-looking lobby, we were excited. When we saw our room (a "Standard Motel" room with a king-size bed), we were not impressed. Here's why:

* Decor: Cheesy faux log cabin
* Cleanliness: I found a hair (and it wasn't a long straight one, if you catch my drift) on the 8.5" x 11" piece of paper with hotel information on it. I also found several hairs on the comforter (which was also stained in numerous places on the inside) and maybe even some of the sheets
* Room quality: The sink counter was not finished, leaving construction details exposed. Also, the entertainment center/dresser was missing a whole compartment (it seemed like it was supposed to contain a refrigerator and/or microwave) and simply had a big hole cutout for access to an electrical outlet behind the unit.
* Internet: The free wireless internet had ads running across of every webpage and the service was spotty...extremely frustrating.

On the plus side, the soaps offered by the hotel were nice, and again, the lobby was really nice. This (along with all the positive TripAdvisor reviews) makes the whole experience all the more frustrating, since it made me wonder if we just had bad luck and got one of the bad rooms...

Well placed for the slopes. Rooms have rustic charm (mine had a fireplace), although they need a little more care in maintenance (room was clean but needed a little tidying up especially in bathroom).

If you have a room at the back of the property (facing the Station house) you will have best access to ski shuttle and shortest walk to Gondola

Staff very helpful in setting up a late checkout to allow me to shower after skiing before heading for the Reno airport shuttle bus.

Nice place, with clean comfortable rooms. Good location to walk to the Heavenly gondola to ski. Dog friendly, which is important to us (we rarely travel by car without our pooch). Nice people. Giant hot tub. Very good value, especially Sunday night through Thursday.

My partner and I just returned from a fabulous time in Tahoe. March is such a beautiful time to go and we got really lucky with not having hotel reservations and stumbling across the 3 Peaks Resort and Beach Club. The young lady at the front desk was a doll. She set us up with a beautiful room that had a gorgeous view of the mountains! We actually never wanted to leave the room!
This hotel was super convenient to the casinos, restaurants, bars, and if you are into skiing... Heavenly was just a hop, skip, and a jump away.
There was no restaurant at this hotel but that got us out and about or we would have stayed in the entire 3 days.
for future reference, this is a pet friendly hotel and we had wished we had brought Bootsy with us. Now we have one more reason to return to the 3 Peaks Resort and Beach Club!

Well cared for by manager Nina who stayed til midnight to greet us. Rustic, roomy Studio King or Parlor Suite rooms with fireplace and full kitchen allowed us to ski all day and dine in at night. When discovered room heater not working upon check-in, Nina loaned us portable heater for the night and the in-wall was immediately fixed the next day. Wished we'd bought real wood instead of chem-log for the fireplace! Easy access to Heavenly. Close to Kirkwood and Sierra @ Tahoe. Walking distance to bars, casinos, restaurants & grocery store.
