This is a WONDERFUL, quiet hotel...You cannot hear anyone but the place is packed. The rooms are great and affordable. You CANNOT go wrong staying here...park at Harrah's for free (it's a really short walk) to avoid the $24 per day valet

The location is great and you can walk to many nice restaraunts and shops. I agree with other reviews that the $24 a day parking fee is kind of steep. We didn't even use our car during our weekend stay so the additional charge seemed unnecessary. The room we had was one of the standard deluxe rooms. Just a nice hotel room, nothing special. We were there with another couple who had one of the suite rooms and that was very nice and spacious, with a full kitchen. However, their room overlooked the pool and they said it stayed fairly noisy out there very late into the night. The other bad part of this property is they do not have a late check-out option on Sunday's. You have to check out by 10am. Kind of a drag since we wanted to spend more of our weekend there doing some shopping, they were nice enough to hold our bags after we checked out. Overall it is nice just a few minor issues.

Room Tip: Go for the 1 bedroom suites not facing the pool.

Stayed 2 nights with my wife at the Timber Lodge. A great location close to shops, restaurants, casinos, attractions, etc... We stayed in a 1 Bedroom Villa which was very comfortable with the full Kitchen, Living Room, Fireplace, and Bedroom with a jacuzzi tub. The staff was very accomodating - we arrived in town several hours before the checkin time, but went to the hotel anyway. The front desk personnel arranged to hold our luggage, get our vehicle parked, and we went out for a lunch at the top of the mountain (rode the adjacent gondola - a must do!). When a room became available Justin contacted us via cell phone and let us know we were all set to go, complete with a mountain view. Very highly recommended!

Room Tip: Look for a mountain view or pool view

If you happen to need a place to stay in South Lake, I don't recommend South Lake, the Timber Lodge is a good place to stay. We had a 1 bedroom suite on the third floor overlooking the pool and hot tubs. The suite was very nice and was pretty reasonably priced considering you get a full kitchen and living room. The one downside is the $24 fee for keeping your car there overnight. I don't really understand why the patrons can't park their own car in the garage below but Marriot has decided to charge for valet parking. So, for our 2 night stay with other friends this added $100 to the cost. Regardless, the staff was nice, and the rooms were clean.

I felt the hotel was in a wonderful location in town. shopping, restaurants and casinos all within walking distance. Room was spacious and well kept. The only negatives were the daily fee for parking $24. We found parking in Harrahs lot free and very convenient especially since we did not take the car out too often during the week. The other possible negative was the hotels restaurant Fire and Ice. It is a theme restaurant where you pick your meat, fish veggies etc put it in a bowl and cook in the middle of the restaurant while watching. If you are not in the mood for this you can walk to nearby eateries. don't forget to mention that you are a marriott guest at any of the shops and restaurants to get your discount!

My wife and stayed two nights at the Timber Lodge for a birthday/anniversary. What we liked about the Timber Lodge was its location: a short walk to a number of attractions and stores. The gondula up to Heavenly is literraly a step outside the hotel, the casinos and restaurants are a short walk up the street, and there are a number of stores within the complex, or across the street. We also enjoyed the large pool, with plenty of seating. The room we had was rather average, both in terms of space and decor. On the plus side you get a reasonably large fridge, and the room was clean. Overall a nice stay, but for the same price I would probably stay at the Embassy Suites again - same location, but larger rooms. Except for the outdoor pool...

My husband and older son and I stayed a week at Timber Lodge last October and I'm sorry to be so late in talking about it. The Marriott time share was just as expected. It was comfortable, well-furnished, and just perfect as a home away from home. The location was very central to most attractions and an easy drive to whatever we wanted to see. It had activities surrounding the hotel, so it was easy to find something to do in the off season. We had a great bike ride one day, we took the MS. Dixie steamboat ride another day, and several days we just drove till we saw something we wanted to explore. Our best day (according to my husband) was our Wine Tour we took in the surrounding areas. WE went to 5 wineries under the expert guidance of our guide (I already evaluated her!). It was a totally awesome week and we hope to go back to Tahoe for more exploring in the future.

Room Tip: We were on the ground floor at the end of the building behind the pool. It was a long walk from the...
