Old buildings but partially remodeled, clean. The room had nice gas fireplace which warm the room, what make nice because is quiet. So bad can not control it when fire up. The room had also good size kitchenette. The employee are very friendly and professional.

My family and I have stayed at several hotels in the same area near stateline and felt that big pines was one of the better hotels at a very fair price. The room small but clean. My only complaint was that the bathroom door did not lock. The location was less than a 10 minute walk to stateline with small children. I thought the breakfast was better then most continental breakfasts that some hotels offer. They offered cereal, bagels, oatmeal, granola, yogurt and coffee. We were able to get to adventure mountain and Sierra at Tahoe in less than 30 minutes from the hotel. We would stay again for the price that we paid

I booked this hotel on a whim -- wanted to get out of town for a few days. Got a deal through hotels.com for $45 a night which was pretty good. At $45 a night, what can you expect? I have to say, more than you'd think -- the place is clean, everything works, location is convenient, the maid cleaning the rooms is very thorough (she even cleaned up the nasty coffee maker I brought because I tend to distrust hotel coffee makers, especially at this rate).

Excellent service and well prepared for travelers. This is my second time staying here and I'm glad to see familiar faces. When the Heavenly gondola was shut down due to high winds, the staff had some great alternatives for us.

Our family of four stayed in the 2 bedroom suite for a night. We were pleasantly surprised by the full size fridge and stove (including an oven). The kids loved the bunk beds and having their own closet & bathroom. There were plenty of dishes, cookware and cabinet space if we had stayed longer. We also appreciated that the hotel was understanding of our change in plans as a result of an incoming storm. Breakfast was decent with bagels, cold cereal, hot oatmeal, granola & yogurt, milk and juice. The only major complaints were that the trundle bed sheets didn't seem like they had been changed since the last guests and the living room couch was a bit uncomfortable. We would definitely consider staying here again.
