Depressing little dump down the hill. Even the start was bad... the lobby closes at about 9 pm and you have to ring a bell and/or telephone for somebody to come. Finally I checked in, then went to my room and couldn't get the lights to come on. So I went back, rang again, and the surly man reluctantly came to my room to verify that I was an idiot who couldn't figure out how to turn the lights on. He was right... the lights had been unplugged from the sockets behind the bed, he had to pull the bed out and plug them back in. Silly me. Housekeeping should have checked this in advance.
My room was a queen, much smaller than a motel 6, barely enough room for one person's minimal stuff. The table and chair were shoved into a corner so small you couldn't pull the chair out to sit down. So I perched my morning coffee on the bed-side table and knocked it all over the bed. No overhead light, only 2 lamps with bulbs so dim that I could barely see to read at night; and sacrificed privacy and left the curtains open in the morning. Perhaps less light meant less opportunity to see how indifferently it was cleaned. Moldy shower curtain, amenities as cheap as possible and not replenished during a 4 day stay. Even the parking spaces were so narrow that when 3 compact cars parked side by side we couldn't open our doors without touching the other cars!
The nice lady at the desk said they were in the process of remodeling, and had only owned it 14 months!!! When I suggested starting with a $19.99 plug-in overhead light in each room she essentially said they weren't ready for that yet.
I am a great afficionado of cheap motels, and generally ignore reviewers who expect the Ritz and obsequious service for $39.99 a night. But this place wasa depressing pit and not even so cheap at $56 a night.
