The service was very fast - not the place for a long, leisurely meal. The servers were friendly and all work together to give you the best service. As the downstairs dining room was closed, we had to eat upstairs in the more informal bar area. My husband had the shepherd's pie which was good and I had the corned beef and cabbage. It was served in a soupy liquid which made the meal soggy. Will not order it again, but will go back and try their pizza or fish and chips which both looked good. Be sure and check out the kilts on display in the downstairs dining room.

While staying at the "Inn by the Lake", my family and I decided we were hungry after a long day of traveling. Not wanting to go very far, we were going to stop at the diner right near the restaurant...but on our way, my fiancé noticed "macduff's public house" tucked away down the street. We decided to go for it! Boy are we glad we did. The seating area is a bit small, but it adds to the charm big time. The staff was really friendly and made great recommendations. It is a little expensive for "pub food", but well worth it considering the quality. $18 for a WONDERFUL shepherds pie, or $15 for a mediocre Denny's entrée??? I'm thinking the extra 3 bucks is worth it! Since there were so many things that we wanted to try, we came back the next day for lunch and it was just as satisfying! You have to try the Shepherds Pie, Mac & Cheese, and the Tree Hugger Burger (one of the best veggie burgers I have ever had). Oh! and the bread pudding is unlike any other I have ever had. YUM! You wont be left hungry! We will definitely be going back.

Wow, this place was great! After a long drive to tahoe, we were starving! Decided to stop here since it was open on thanksgiving day while most businesses were closed. Upon entering, you could smell all the delicious, mouth watering smells emanating from the kitchen. We were seated upstairs. The owner was very friendly and hospitable. Started off with a beer, hamburger, and margarita pizza. Food was amazing! fresh, and homemade. Ended our lunch with the bread pudding dessert, omg it was sooo good! Hot caramel bread pudding, smothered in melting vanilla ice cream. We ate it so fast I didn't get a picture, haha.
This place was so great, we decided to cancel our thanksgiving reservation at another restaurant and came back here for dinner. They had their own special meal which was complete with all the fixings, potato soup, and dessert included. Will definitely return when we are in Tahoe!

We went to Macduff's based on Tripadvisor reviews. We caught 6 fish on a charter on Lake Tahoe that day, and the guides also said Macduff's was the place to go to have this fresh fish cooked. However good any of the food was, our server's attitude and environment here completely ruined our meal. When we asked for a round of waters while waiting on our beers (after already waiting 20+ minutes for any service), the waitress asked us if we would drink all of our water...if not she did not want to make them and considered it a waste. I have never been asked this at a restaurant before and it was very rude.

Our party of 12 received one family style salad to share, one small bowl of cole slaw, about 30 french fries, and our fish cooked for a ridiculously high price. The fried fish was very tasty, but the other two styles of fish were dry and okay at best. We were seated in the basement next to the kitchen and bathrooms and so we had the treat of watching waiters and kitchen staff running around. The manager was extremely rude when we asked if we could split the check and we also witnessed him yelling at the table next to us to the point that they got up and left. It was an awful experience for us, and we were hoping for a lot more based on the reviews here.

If we could rate the food a "10", we would! Too bad the Tripadvisor rating only goes up to a 5! The service is exceptional, with many servers checking up on you throughout your meal. Absolutely THE BEST truffled Mac and cheese.....ever, anywhere!!!! The chicken pot pie was incredible. The portions were large, and needed a to-go box. All meals are made from scratch.......top it off with homemade bread pudding! Just fantastic. Great après ski environment. Very enjoyable evening.
