“You get what you pay for....”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 16, 2013

I want to start this review by saying that I usually stay in non-budget hotels so I am used to a certain level of comfort. I chose this hotel for a Saturday night in Lake Tahoe, where I was staying at Harrah's on Sunday and Monday for $50 a night. I got this property for $42 which is a very good deal for a Saturday there. I also read the reviews and felt it was worth a shot.

The pros of the stay were the price and the location near the beach and walking distance to the casinos. However, the cons outweighed the pros in this case. The room was very small, the carpet very dirty, and the mattress torn in places. The walls were thin and I could plainly hear conversations on both sides of me and I could also hear the traffic out front.

I had joined their "club" prior to my visit which gave me a 5% discount and a supposed upgrade which I clearly did not get. In fairness, the front desk clerk allowed me to look at another room on the other side of the road but it wasn't any better.

They do offer a continental breakfast of waffles and coffee in the lobby, however, I did not partake.

If price is a serious concern, then maybe this is the place. However, it is surrounded by other small lodgings, and I would pick a different place next time.

Cheers.

Marius

Thank you for taking the time to post your comments online. Naturally what prohibits most people from receiving everything they would like to have in a hotel is the willingness to pay the higher room rates. It's a shame so many individuals search the internet far and wide to find the best conceivable deal and find themselves disappointed with their experience. It is our company objective to provide clean, comfortable and convenient accommodations at the most competitive room rates in our area. Not all rooms are the same at our hotel and I'm certian if you would have been willing to examine a different guest room you may have been more satisfied with your stay. Since you did not mention the free private beach passes, free Wifi, free fitness/laundry facility then I assume you enjoyed them. Thank you again for posting your thoughts.

We chose this hotel on the recommendation of a friend who uses this location every year when he comes to Tahoe to see Sammy Hagar play, which is why we were there!! This was our first trip to Tahoe, and being on a budget, this place was great. It's a little on the old-school side, but the price is right, it's clean, it's VERY quiet, and is within a ten minute walk of the casinos and concert venues. If you don't require luxury, are pretty self-sufficient, and just want a nice clean, quiet place to sleep at night, this is the place for you. They still use actual METAL keys for the doors!! It's totally stuck in 1983 but that's just fine with me. I almost hate to give away this little secret, now everyone will know!! Thanks to these folks for a nice stay and we look forward to seeing you again in 2014!

Thank you for sharing your experience. It's our objective to provide the best rates on clean, comfortable and convenience accommodations in our area. We are constantly improving our hotel but we do it in a manner that doesn't cause us to have to increase our room rates significantly. Somethings about our rooms are tried and true and still work quite well for our guests. We don't make people pay higher room rates for things they don't feel they need when traveling on a budget. Thank you again for your review and please contact us directly in the future for our guaranteed lowest rates.

Friendly staff, good sized room for a low price. Probably depends on the season and weekend or week day. Loud fan in the bathroom that can’t be switched off (connected to the light switch), floor was a bit dusty under the bed and a towel rack dropped of the wall. But overall a pleasant stay. Breakfast was simple.

Thank you for taking the time to review or hotel. We appreciate your mention of the value of our hotel and the size of our guest rooms. Naturally, most of our rooms are occupied nearly everyday and sometimes there may something wrong with the room that just occured. We are constantly performing inspections by both our housekeeping and maintenance departments but occasionally there may be a new problem we did not discover before the room is resold. I assure you anything you may have noticed wrong with your room has been remedied and I'm certian we are on to a new set of problems that again we will remedy. It's the nature of the business.

Thank you for your fair review and we look forward to your future visit.

I have stayed at Americas Best Value Inn S Lake Tahoe (formerly known as Best Tahoe West) a few times. I always come back to this hotel when I'm in town because it is two blocks from the casinos, two blocks from the beach - with free access to the beach, free parking, all of the staff I talked to were super nice, early check in/late checkout, free wireless (becoming a rarity at other hotels), microwave and refrigerator in some rooms, and they have not just a pool, but also a hot tub, sauna, and grill! They seem to be updating their rooms because each one we stayed in was a little different than the last, but all were clean. Yeah the continental breakfast was just fruit and bagels, but isn't that what most hotels offer?

Room Tip: All of the rooms are different so call ahead if you need refridgerator or balcony

Stayed here as a last minute choice and glad I did

Room was clean
(A bit small)

Bed good

Well appointed

Front desk staff friendly and check-in / out was fast

Morning breakfast good

Nicely heated pool and jacuzzi

Located at Stateline between the lake and casinos (walking distance)

So if you are a high roller or not. Give this place a try.

This is a 4 season hotel

If you don't plan on spending a lot of time in your room, then this is a great place to be. It's close to all the action of South Lake and you might not even need to use your car. Our room was clean, had a balcony to relax outside on, and we weren't bothered by the hotel staff. The manager is a great guy who really helped us out with anything we asked. If you are looking for certain amenities, such as a fridge, microwave, etc., I suggest calling and talking to someone so they can put you in a specific room.

Thank you for your comments... we couldn't have said it better. If travelers are searching for a four star resort with restaurant and bar for the price of an economy lodging property two blocks from the beach and marina then they will not be satisfied. However, if guests are looking for a clean, comfortable and convenient hotel with friendly staff three blocks from private beach and very affordable room rates then we may be a good choice for them.

Since you did not mention our free wifi, free continental breakfast, free laundry/fitness facility, free private beach passes, parking and self service auto valet, our wonderful heated swimming pool, spa and sauna, I will assume you did not get an opportunity to take advantage of those ammenities... perhaps next time. Please contact us directly for our guaranteed lowest prices.

Price was good, the room was clean, the area was very quiet. People at the front desk were nice. However, I was disappointed that the room and bathroom looked extremely outdated, as if we were back in the 1980's. Carpet was extremely thin, there was a small tube TV, wifi connection was very poor in the room. The light switch for the bathroom was connected to the ventilator which was extremely loud. Breakfast was alright, but the breakfast area was very small and there were no trays available to take things back to the room. If you need hair conditioner and a hair dryer, you need to ask for them at the front desk. Would probably not stay there again.
